| Had a couple questions, I searched the site for a bit and didn't find an exact up to date answer. First, when you get the job offer how do the determine the "sub-company" for lack of a better term that you fly for (mainly interested due to the difference in bases). Has anyone recently hired had this issue. Ive seen it hinted at that you can request a later class date to wait for a certain carrier (RAH, Shuttle, or Chaut.) but im not sure if there is an validity to this. ALSO, once hired can you eventually switch between the three carriers? I understand that they have a combined seniority list, but does that mean you can jump between companies and airframes? And last but not least do you have to have your ATP written complete, and does their test given at the interview contain any ATP questions? Thanks for any input. |

| They determine which certificate you will fly for based on their needs, and i think to some part now, your experience level. Because this is now a "pilots" market, i have heard some people requesting a particular certificate and getting it. You can change certificates from when you go from FO to CAPT. Once you are a captain you can only change to a higer paying position. So if you went from EM4 FO and then to EM7 CA, you could never go back to a CRJ or Em4 CA.

| Senior Member | A CFI at my school had an interview today. He just broke 1000/130. He told another CFI at my school to apply just for ####s with his 415 hours. He did and they called him back and said "Do you have the RJ course?" and when he said no, they told him to reapply when he hits 800 This stupid RJ course is going to become more important than anything eventually and its a shame. -Rob |

As far as the test, I don't remember any ATP questions. It's really just an instrument written but its tricky. I believe RAH made the test up with their own questions. There weren't too many that I remember seeing in any of the FAA tests. I looked over the CHQ study guide a few times and I think there were 1-2 questions that were actually from that study guide. So the study guide is OLD, but it gives you some good topics to study. I primarily studied Instrument stuff and I guess I passed because I made it to the 2 on 1 interviews. | |

| Recent hire here........ They point blank asked many in my class IF they were hired what base would work best for them. Some it works for some it didnt. I will say in my case they gave me the S5 class instead of a RW class because I wanted the ability to domicile in ATL. Bottom line is they have in the recent past been asking where you would probably like to be domiciled but there are NO guarantees. You are stuck with whichever cert you get until you upgrade. You can move bases within your cert on YOUR acft but thats it. Example... a Shuttle FO on the 170 cant decide he wants to be Philly based and simply bid over to Republic even those his "RAH" senority would hold it. RAH as three seperate operating certificates and the POH's even between Republic and Shuttle are NOT the same for the 170 thus the restriction. Feds would require training no doubt to switch certificates. Maybe.......someday.....it will all be just Republic Airlines, but for now.......nope. |
