| While I was flying jumpers everyday during the summer, I started just putting the flights on logshare.com...to be entered in the paper logbook later. I ended up with 2 months of entries. I filled some pages, and then I overlapped dates somewhere in the middle. So how did I try to fix it?! I cut out the pages... Now there's this big gap in my logbook. What should I do? I'm thinking cut out the remainder of the pages and start a new book. It's going to look suspicious now. crap.

| Considering my logbook was destroyed long ago and I still got a yob...I don't think it'll be all that suspicious. Hell, I don't even have a paper logbook now. I print out logbook pro when I go somewhere that wants to see it and that's it. I think you'll be fine. -mini |

| Not a big deal. Hell, scrap the paper entirely and go electronic logbook. Keep the paper one for endorsements, I suppose. There is no FAA reg on how you are supposed to log your time, and all entries are self-certified. So, no problem.

| Speaking of logshare.com, how do you delete entries? I was messing around with it, adding fields, etc., now I can't figure out how to delete the "practice" entries!?! ![]()

Not that I'm anal retentive, for I'm far from it, but because I'm a low time pilot, before I commit myself to one electronic system, I use iPilot, www.zululog.com and logshare to determine the ease of use. My safelog will go internet as well to ensure I don't lose my logbook due to a hard drive failure.

| the guy who created zululog flies out of our airport and is real receptive to improvements to his software. so if you have problems with it it's pretty much a direct communication to the programmer/billing/i do everything man. |

| An electronic logbook can be stored in many locations...on your hard drive, multiple email accounts, USB drive, etc.

Plus regular backups on the hard drive (every time I shut down). Pretty fool proof...and I'm just the fool to prove it. -mini

| Just remember that fire proof safes don't burn - but they still get hot enough to melt plastic, corrupt data on electronic media, etc. If you're relying on it for fire protection for that type of media, you should rethink. I have a good friend who lost a lot of his photographic work because it was stored in a fireproof safe on slides, scanned on CDs, or stored on a portable HD. All of them were unusable and unrecoverable after his house burned down. The paper, cloth, metal, etc., in the safe were fine and the CDs and harddrives looked OK but the data was corrupt. The slides and negatives melted.

For logbooks, just keep several backups in random places. E-mailing to hotmail accounts is a good idea (any internet based e-mail is good). You can also put the data on those flash drives and stick one in your car or your bank box. ![]() -mini
