![]() Seriously, I thought the food at the Extended Stay was pretty good, but I wouldn't call it GREAT. The lasagna was awesome. The soup nights... not so much.... | |

| Hey, thanks for hijacking my thread.... JK. I will be flying the b1900 sim, any tips Seggy? From what I hear people say it's pitch sensitive, anything else? |

| Old Skool | Yeah the sim can be pitch sensative. They are looking to see if you have a scan. Best advice is not to get behind the sim. Correct it, but dont overcorrect it or you will lose a thousand feet of altitude. To practice I would fly the MSFS sim using the learjet with the sim gouge. Also look for cockpit shots of the 1900D on airliners.net to see the cockpit before you climb into it. Any other questions don't hesitate to ask. Good luck!

| Flynik, Here are some pointers for the Beech 1900D sim: 1. Rule# 1: You are flying a computer, not an airplane... 2. Do not get into a situation where you are "pushing and pulling" on the yoke and power levers. Much sooner than later you'll have the thing out of phase and just fighting yourself as all the 1s and 0s try to get caught up with your inputs. Again, modern flight simulators are digital computers that use binary code. The name of the game is to keep all the "pots" potentiometers quiet. DON'T overcontrol...use the TRIM. 3. When you configure you will need to add some nose down trim. The greatest pitching moment occurs when you go from flap 0 to flaps 17. Be ready for some balloon tendency. The real airplane does it too, but nearly to extent as the simulator does. 4. DON'T screw around with the Power settings too much. The beauty of the sim is that it will hold steady state airspeeds coincident with power settings ex: 1500-1600 lbs. torque will give you 150-160 knots. 5. DON'T fixate on the instruments! 6. The RMI is your best friend for figuring out holding pattern entries. The needle does two things for you instantly. It points to the station and it also points to the direction that the wind is coming from (wind WILL NOT be a factor during the eval, so no worries...But real-world as much as we hold going into LGA the RMI is the best instrument for holding we have in my opinion anyway, but I am old school kinda pilot). 7. ILS APPROACH: 1000 pounds of Torque is your TARGET power setting GEAR DOWN, FLAPS 35 120-130 knots...SCAN...catch the deviations...SMALL FRIGGIN CORRECTIONS OK??? You start getting crazy with anything than you know your scan went down the tubes. Last bit of advice here is to just relax. All the guys that do the sim evals are really good guys. We want you guys to do well, but we can't give you a whole lot assistance or feedback. Have fun with it... Regards, ex-Navy Rotorhead 1900 instructor pilot/check airman Colgan Air |
