| Does anyone know of any schools/training centers that offer Commercial Multi-engine instrument training for ASEL Instrument rated private pilots, all in one program? Last edited by JEP; December 31st, 2007 at 14:41. Reason: saving thread from comments about Mulit training.....:) |

| If you can't find a 141 program that does it, you should be able to find a DE that will give you the combined checkride.

| The "Commercial Multi Engine Instrument" checkride really is ONE checkride. There is no "combined" program because you are not "combining" anything. You can obtain your initial commerical cetificate in a single or a multi. If you hold an instrument rating you HAVE to be evaluated on the instrument tasks on a COMMERCIAL mutli checkride. In other words if you hold Private ASEL Instrument airplane, you can not get a Commercial AMEL limited to VFR only regardless if its an initial commercial or simply an add-on to the commercial certificate. I have a student who is doing the exact same thing right now. So in your case you could go to any flight school and simply say "I'd like to do my initial commercial in a twin". Not that uncommon. Hope that helps.

| Thanks for the advice on how to articulate my intentions. I wasn't sure how to differentiate from the path of getting an MEI first, then going into commercial Multi. Thanks! |

| there is no such thing as a multi-engine or single-engine instrument rating. there is only instrument airplane. if you don't have any instrument rating it would be a combined checkride. The DE would have to fill out 2 iacras. If you already have your instrument rating but don't have your commercial MEL and take that checkride then instrument proficiency is part of the matrix of Tasks you will have to complete if you look at the PTS.

| Old Skool | Its just a CMEL ride that requires a single engine approach (usually ILS), and maybe some basic course intercepts. That is about it really.

| Senior Member | All you are doing is adding a Multi rating. Since you are instrument rated, you will just have to do an ILS in the twin on your Multi ride so that you have instrument privileges in the twin. |

| Not to play devil's advocate....but its not always an ILS used for the single engine instrument approach on the cmel ride... Single engine NDB is still fair game ![]()

| Senior Member | While an "inop" sticker could cure that problem, yes technically it would not have to be an ILS approach ![]() |
