Whats your longest x-country (NM) in an ASEL? Did you use GPS, Nav Logs, or both?

Just shy of Six hours from U77 (Spanish FOrk, UT) to KSBA in a Piper Arrow.

Mostly Following I-15 and then VOR to VOR across southern California with Flight Following.

Not my longest total in one day, but still the longest continuous sit.

Either Kinston, NC (KISO) - Olive Branch, MS (KOLV), or Smyrna, TN (KMQY) - Gaithersburg, MD (KGAI).

On the first trip, all IFR, all VOR's. On the second, GPS.

16X - FFC; From a small private airport north of KDFW, to Falcon Field, just south of Atlanta. Straight line is 641. Made two stops. First one in Monticello Arkansas, second one in Tuscaloosa Alabama.

5.5 hours flight time, in a DA20-C1. Ferry flight from old owner, to the flight school.

Nav log and GPS.

The end of march, we have a wedding to go to in NY, so I'm debating if I should think about taking the Archer from KJQF to KEWR or just get airline tickets. The calculator said 3.5 hours for a distance of about 444 NM. I could use the extra time to build for my commercial... just not sure if my wife is too thrilled about the idea.

Mine was I think 540 miles from New Orleans to Charleston, SC about 6 hours with one fuel stop in Cessna 172 SP
edit: I used Victor Airways one way and GPS direct back. All VFR.

3I3(Terre Haute, IN) - KFMY (Fort Meyers, FL) in January.

Cessna 172, all IFR, lots of IMC, 3 stops each way, no GPS.

It was a great trip of about 1700 miles in 2 days of flying.

1980-Ferried an AirTractor from Olney Texas(just nw of DFW) out to Walla Walla Washington.Dont remember how long it took,Put about 200 gallons of gas in the hopper Plus the 70 in the wings=about nine hrs. range. No GPS,Just a Atlas.Actually worked really well,This was before all of the airspace stuff.Just stayed on the other side of town from the big airports and all was well.Second was an AG CAT from central Arkansas down to Homestead FloridaJust south of Miami.Same deal except this time no fuel in the hopper. Those were fun trips. FLY SAFE T.C.

In kts? hmmmm, hold on...

PAMR to PAGK *Anchorage to Gulkana - 137
PAGK to PABI *Gulkana to Delta Junction - 111
PABI to PAFA *Delta Junction to Fairbanks - 74 Got gas in Fairbanks
PAFA to PAGA *Fairbanks to Galena - 232 Got fuel in Galena too
PAGA to DCK *Galena to Dahl Creek - 132
DCK to PAIK *Dahl Creek to Kiana - 83 Got gas and slept here
PAIK to PAGA *Kiana to Galena -160 Topped it off back in Galena
PAGA to PAMR *Galena back to Merril - 286 Back home
Total - 1215Kts

If I remember right it took about 18 or so hours in a 172. The first day I flew for about 14hrs or so, then the second day I flew back home in about 4 hrs. No GPS in that airplane, and I didn't have a nav log, because at each stop I got a new destination.. Just low level pilotage. Most of the trip I was down at about 500' due to the wx. All you do is fly the rivers.

I flew a Cessna 172 from Arlington, TX to Ann Arbor, MI and back via Memphis. It was a long couple of days. The legs between Arlington and Memphis were done with Kellwolf.

That wouldnt be too bad of a trip. Probably be pretty fun, but Id suggest not even trying to get into EWR. Might look at TEB(although very expensive to park) or MMU(I think....but its morristown, nj--just west of EWR). FArmingdale on Long Island isnt bad either depending on where you are going.

If you go into EWR, plan on arriving in the middle of the night. There are some hefty fees for landing during the day. No matter the winds you'll be landing on 11. You might get 29 if there is a strong west wind. also look at linden NJ (LDJ). Its a small GA airport just under the approach path to the 4s, about 5 miles south of EWR. Other nearby airports include Caldwell (CDW) morristown (mmu) and Teterboro.
