Default Skywest, United, and LAX

I recently heard Skywest was released from an exclusivity agreement with United for flying out of LAX that would allow them [Skywest] to fly for carriers other than United out of LAX. I've even heard the release was rescinded.

I have been unable to find any press release or news article on such.

Can any of the Skywest guys comment on this and/or provide some sort of official release?

As far as I know, we have been released from that agreement.

Although it doesn't specify in this press release, our management stated we were released from the exclusivity agreement with United.

A little snippet of what our COO said:
Quote:
One of the most important aspects of the agreement is the release of United exclusivity at LAX, which opens the door of opportunity for SkyWest on the West Coast. The release of exclusivity in Los Angeles is key to continued growth in the west.

Among the many rumors and musings, nothing about the agreement being rescinded.

A mechanic told me they're getting 170s/190s to fly for Southwest.

The hub director at LAX did state that we were released from the exclusivity agreement at LAX. As far as he knew two weeks ago, there were no immediate plans to incorporate more flights other then United and the few SLC DLC flights. However, it does look like more will be comming, but definatly nothing for the upcomming months.

And personally I think the Southwest thing is not true.

Ok, I no longer just heard it. It's been announced. Brad Holt, former SKW VP of Flight Ops, is going to be ASA's new COO and President.

It will be interesting to see where this one goes. Early speculation is prep for potential merger, but the crap knows!?
