I just started my lesson for the day and was second in line to take off when all of a sudden I hear a very loud engine behind me. I look back and see 2 very big T-6 Texans waiting to take off. They completely dwarfed my little 152. We take off and had to turn crosswind sooner then normal because of how fast they caught up to us. I landed and was taxiing back to takeoff just in time to see their second formation pass across the airport. Was an awesome sight! On another note I made my first decent landing and actually greased it. Hardly able to feel that we touched ground. I was so proud. And that came right after I almost destroyed the plane during a landing right before. Landed hard and slightly sideways. After the greased landing I went around again and would have made another incredible landing but let the nose go after the main touched. I am 9 hours in and my instructor said I am getting close to soloing! I think I will be very nervous when the time comes All in all it was a great day! |

Way to go on the landings! On a side note, it's great that you were heads up and turned crosswind to avoid them, but it's also their responsibility to give you guys enough spacing if you're in front of them.

I use to go into 1C5 quite regularly and have seen them do several formation passes before. It's a nice airport and great restaurant. Of coure, my main reason for going there was to see Buddy the cat!

Those T-6's were awesome. I would love to fly in them one day. Next time I see them around I'll try and get to know the guys. Do you know anything about them? Are the T-6's hangared at 1C5? | ||
