From AOPA Online: Quote:
(Bragging time: Vern has a Ph.D. in nuclear physics from the University of California at Berkeley, taught physics and did research there for six years, then moved back to Grand Rapids where he taught physics (and eventually chaired the department) at a small local college for 16 years before entering public service full time. He has been Congressman from our district since 1993, the (almost) same district that elected Gerald Ford to Congress. Vern is the first research physicist to serve in Congress.)

On a side note, kind of pertaining to this... I was in Burbank, CA the other day and noticed something that I kind of liked. The airport charges Part 135/121 with landing fees, but NOT Part 91. I like this idea for some reason that I can't make sound good at this hour in writing. Kudos from me to KBUR!
