Default Glad they opened up more airspace!

Because I will 'only' be delayed about four hours today out of LGA!

http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?p...m8U&refer=home

My first flight of the day is cjc4807, LGA-ALB, I think I will depart around 7:00 PM, normal scheduled departure is 2:55PM

They need more runways, not look for idiodic ways to create more airspace.

It was just a publicity stunt so when there is good weather over the holiday weekend "W" can take credit for "saving the airlines, because GA wont with their user fees".

Its a shame that these "routes" are through the military area and not charted. All It will really do is make more space for for the airplanes to hold. Its really not an enroute problem, its more the NY terminal area, which doesn't have any of the so called "new airspace"

Do you think they should just limit the major airports (JFK, DFW, MIA, etc.) to a/c with at least X number of passengers. 4 regional jets with 50 people is 4x less efficient than 1 737 with 200 passengers. This would be a way to take some stress off of the IFR system - at least in these major cities.

I say that each airline cant fly more than 4 flights per day between EWR, LGA or JFK and any given outstation on airplanes with 50 seats or less.

This would leave most of the schedules intact, but force some of the ridiculous stuff to stop. How many 50 seat airplanes fly between NYC and RDU? I believe its on the order of 40.

Thats my opinion.

PS.....Mark, you starting your trip out of LGA? or did you overnight?

Oh no my day started at 8:45AM in ALB with a deadhead to LGA. I will probably be on duty 10-11 hours before I touch an airplane with the intentions of flying it. Outstation basing SUCKS.

Because, after all, those MOA's and Alert areas are usually pretty darned "hot" over the holiday weekends, ya know!
