This thread has got us talkin' about doing this. If I can make a Salt Lake to Newark commute work, Zurich, Rome or some other far flung place in Europe can't be that much worse. Especially once I get some seniority and could hold a line in Newark.

I know I can get the jumpseat headed TO Europe, but is it possible to get in the seat coming back to the States?
DO IT!

Yes you can JS back. Not in the actual of course but you can ride as a crewmember for free.

We're looking into seeing what Em would have to do to teach out in Europe for a winter. Once we've got an answer on that we'll see where we stand with it.

Staying on topic though, he said the commute is a piece of cake.

Say you wanted to live in Europe, most countries you get a 60 or 90 day stamp on your passport. As a pilot maybe that would be fine because you would be leaving and coming back before that time. What about if you had a wife/girlfriend wouldn't she have to get up and take a trip out of the country and then return within that time frame.

is that even accepted? (if you got your passport stamped for 60 day visit, can you just leave and come back and get another stamp)

Maybe you can get a visa but if your working for an American airline why would a European country give you a permanent visa.

How about a Shengen? If her potential employer can work with one of the Shengen states, she might be ok.

Well you don't need a visa if one of your parents was born from europe. You Just apply for Dual Citizenship.
