I should also note that those who apply should anticipate a hiring process of one to three years. Welcome to the G. Took me three years to get offered a Special Agent job from start to finish.

Let me also add that there is no such thing as "Customs" any more. The official position is "Air Interdiction Agent) series GS-2181 (pilot) with Customs and Border Protection. "Legacy Customs" has now turned into ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement). FBI, USSS, DEA are all considered GS-1811, which is the bona fide "Criminal Investigator/Special Agent" position.
