| Old Skool | Ain't it the truth. That's why I told you guys the story about the UAL and NWA guys. They're both Union pilots. Status can't trump boneheadedness.

Hope things are going well in training! They give you a special Company Flight Manual that has Q information and procedures in it? Word is that the production line is a few months behind on the orders, as well as the training program. Add to that fact we are trying to get special waivers from the FAA concerning training cycles, for the captains that are trained on the Q, to try to have them fly the line again, till the Q comes online, it is going to be an interesting six months. Furthermore, the company is telling you that they are going to open other Q bases but that is not going to happen, except for CLE, IAH, and POSSIBLY ALB. Good luck commuting to EWR, the guys are going to need it without a commuter clause!

I have heard otherwise recently as for the production lines but I am not sure about the training program except for the fact that my class is on track, I certainly can not speak for the future classes. It will definately be an interesting 6 months as I doubt anything this big can come online without hicups, we have been told to prepare for that from day one so I am certainly ready for whatever shows up. As for the bases I have heard and the routes I have heard I will not talk about those since I do not have a very anonymous screen name and am wise enough to know that I am sure members of Colgan and PCL are aware of these sites. I will absolutely say that this company needs a commuter clause, I of course have never commuted but I am about to be thrown into the mix and a missed trip is only one ground stop/snow storm/weather delay away. I will bid to be out of EWR as soon as possible. *if* there were to be an ALB or Washington area base I would bid any of those since there are still plenty of flights in the BOS MHT PWM system that are nonstop and would be easier to get to than EWR. In the meantime I plan on playing it safe the first few months and getting a crashpad in EWR and flying out the night prior to decrease the chances of missing a trip

Ahh! Remember the good old days, prior to flowbacks, when you'd be jumpseating online but would see another pilot out there trying to jumpseat. You'd walk out, introduce yourself, tell him something like "The flight's wide open, but I'll do the non-rev thing so you can get the jumpseat". Then you'd check on him, make sure he got on and help him find a spot for his bag? Man, I'm starting to think I'm going to have to bring a shank just in case some yahoo demands my seniority number!

Yeah, I could see an IAD base for UAL in about two years or so. Glad you see the need for a solid commuters clause ![]() It is going to be interesting, that is for sure. The company has a lot riding on it. Have fun in training!
