Just curious to see if there are any pilots who are also in the guard or reserves are having to be deployed to the middle east, and if this really hurts the airlines like it does small police departments (mine lost nearly half it's cops cause there were also MPs in the guard) and when pilots are gone, do they keep their seniority #? Just thinking about the vets!

as far as I know, You do keep your seniority. Crew scheduling just take your name off the bidding list.

Yep...they keep their number...it's the law. I haven't heard of any of the larger outfits having issues, but I am sure some of the smaller "Mom/Pop" outfits (if there are any left) might feel some of the pain. I tend to think it should be Vet's Day everyday.

You keep your number. We had a guy leave for Iraq a 2nd year FO and return as a line-holding Captain. I'm SURE he would've rather sat ready reserve than get shot at. His service won't be forgotten! |
