| I've made posts in the past about teaching in South Korea and I would like to encourage more people who are trying to save up money to check out this option. With the US dollar continuing to drop in value, now's an excellent time to come work in Korea for a year or two, provided you have a 4 year college degree. I continually read about people taking out loans for ATP or other flight schools, all because they want to get started on their dream immediately. I get that feeling that some people think it's impossible to save up a considerable amount of money that can be used towards training. By teaching in Korea you can save 1/2 the required amount in one year, and possibly pay for your training in CASH by the end of your second year. Starting salary right now for a fresh newbie straight out of university is about 2.2 million won, which is about $2,400. Your housing will be paid for by your public school or private language school, so you should be banking about $1,600-1700 a month after paying for things like a cell phone, utilities, food, etc. At the end of the year you will have saved close to $23,000. If you decide to stay for another year you should expect to save $30,000/year. In 2 years you can easily save $50,000. There are 10-14 public holidays per year, plus you get 2 weeks of vacation per year if you work in a private language school, and anywhere from 3 weeks to 3 months of vacation at a public school. Your flight to Korea is paid for by the school and you'll also get another ticket to go back home at the end of your contract. You can teach all age groups, from kindy to adults. If you have some free time you can try to find some students to teach privately, 1 on 1, for $30-60/hour. If you do that a couple of times of week you can save thousands of dollars more. The US dollar is expected to weaken even more, which means more savings . Of course nobody can predict how low it will go, but the Korean won is at a 10 year high right now, so I'm loving my job even more here. If you have any questions about teaching please PM me and I'd be happy to give you more information about my experience here and to help set you up with a job. |

| I would like some more info. I graduated a year ago and am currently working as a consultant in the audiovideo industry, and am looking to save up for flight school. Any information would be helpful.
