I would assume that you could just apply for the position independently while bidding on the flow through or am I missing something. Does it work that way?

From a Comair guy: ![]() There is no flow through agreement. I was not around when the whole DL furlough getting hired by ASA/CMR thing went down. I fly with a lot of senoir CMR guys, and have jumpseated on quite a few DL flights. There is always two sides to a story. When I have jumpseated on DL flights they knew I only got hired recently and had no grudges against me. One Captain told me I should apply, but I had no where the flight time to do it. Our MEC(J.C.) is the one who really screwed the pooch on this one. It is just one of those stains in your pants or shirt you wish you could get out. Just for the record quite a few CMR pilots have been hired at DL recently. I'm sure they knew someone but you can get hired. |

Many mainline carriers will shy away from hiring pilots from their own regional carriers because they are guaranteeing two training cycles by doing so. It will cost to train the new hire pilot and it will also cost to train his replacement at the regional. This is flawed thinking because if the mainline carrier won't hire them, they simply go to some other major requiring a training cycle regardless. CAL terminated it's flow-through agreement with ExpressJet when it started divesting itself from them several years ago.
