Hopefully someone can offer some insight on a problem I am having with my headset. If I plug my phone jack all the way in (one multiple radios) my mic does not work at all or may be resulting for some reason in an open mic because during two attempts to resolve the problem ATC reported a open mic (not sure it was me) so further attempts were made off ATC channels. Also, when I leave the mic jack out halfway the headset functions OK most of the time but occasionally has unresolvable static no matter the phone jack position or squelch settings. I bought the headset open box (display model) and so I don't know my repair options. Hopefully I didn't confuse too much and someone knows of similar instances and how they were resolved. Thanks!

Put the headset back in the box with a note stating what you just posted. Call david clark and tell them you're sending your headset in for repairs. Mail it to them. They'll call you when they get it and give you an estimate of how much it'll cost. They've been known in the past to fix stuff for free. Good luck....

OK thanks, I don't have a warranty card or anything so I never even thought of going to DC for repair. I will give em a call.

take some steel wool on the plugs to clean them off first. be light so you dont take off the plating, but firm enough to clean it up good.

Does this happen on more than one airplane? You should make sure the problem is consistent on two or more aircraft before you sent it in cuz it might be the airplane, rather than the headset.

Ended up having to send this one in a few months back (after using it daily for 6 years) and DC completely refurbished the headset (new speakers, ear seals, mic, chord, jacks, i.e. just about everything but the original structure of the headset). Again, didn't cost my anything but shipping... Quote:

Yeah this has happened in about 3 or 4 different AC. I will contact DC sounds like they take good care of their customers. I'll also try the steel wool but there seems to be no buildup on the jack. Also, did DC need any paperwork a' la warranty card or receipt for these repairs? Thanks |
