This is legislation. If it comes down from Congress, it could be enacted much more quickly. Two months would be about right from final passage to implementation.

| So after doing a bit of research, I found out that A) Yes it is "Grandfathered" IE...No one already past 60 can come back. B) The senate hass passed the bill so far. It still has to make it through the house and the Prez. Dubya is threatening to veto because of ATC Controller stuff. Still has a bit to go. |

| Old Skool | Yep. And while the Senate can muster the votes to override a veto, the House cannot. It still could be a couple years before the rule goes through the FAA hoops. But, I guarantee you it will. ICAO has seen to that.

| Oh sure nothing stands in the way of that but time. I just hope it is sooner than later personally. |

| Old Skool | Doesn't matter to me, either. However, later would clear about 100 seniority numbers out from in front of me. LOL!

| Not quite. It already passed the House in July. It goes to conference committee and then on for signature. |

While AMR does still have about 2400 pilots on review, AMR announced that they will be STEPPING UP the number of pilots they recall. So, as far as I know, nobody is "waiting on the old geezers" to retire.

I personally know one furlough from AA and he's not even close to being recalled. He thinks it will be another 5-7 years. | |

| Old Skool | Looks like you need to get over on the "AA story" thread and do some editing and apologizing as well.

| Editing, yes. Apologizing? No. My response to you was not agressive or inciteful. If you took offense, then that's your cross to bear because you misread my intentions. I made a mistake in my initial response. To err is human. I won't apologize for it though.

That said: In the "AA Story" thread, I said that all the flow-backs are back with AA. That statement is true. Also in that thread I said that AMR is trying to decide how to bring the "flow-through" and TWA pilots on board - soon. That statement is also true. From an http://aviation.beloblog.com/archive...e_of_pilo.html article: American steps up rate of pilot recalls American Airlines will recall 50 furloughed pilots in October, splitting them into two 25-pilot training classes. That's the most recalls for a month since American began recalling pilots late last year. American began recalling pilots last October, with the first class of 10 starting in January. It's slowly been ratcheting the number up since then, mainly to replace pilots who retire or quit. According to the Allied Pilots Association, the airline still has 2,570 pilots on furlough. At its peak, the furlough list was over 2,800 pilots. There are almost as many American Airlines pilots who have deferred coming back as have accepted their recall. According to stats I've seen from their seniority list, 251 American Airlines pilots had been recalled as of July, but 239 others have deferred their recall.

| The projected recall numbers are based on age-60 retirements. AMR has no growth, so all recalls come from retirement attrition. If Age-65 becomes reality, then those 50/mo recalls come to a halt for a while. |

| You've been awfully testy lately. |

| Old Skool | Quit talking about Stan's testes. Bad visual. Stan I can see that you are starting to get some experience behind you, I can see the AMR "piss off" factor has affected you once or twice ![]() As long as you keep a good outlook AMR won't get you down, and can be somewhat enjoyable. It's probably best to stay out of the politics over there for as long as you can!

I've pretty much stayed out of the crew room lately and you know what? The less time I spend down there, the better mood I'm in at the end of the day. ![]() Quote:
