| Hey guys and gals, I have looked at the websites and read the posts here on JC,I need real experiences. I am going to get my CFI,CFII, and MEI in the near future, and would ike to Knock them out in a timely manner. I am not interested in working for these schools as an instructor,or building time. Mainly for teaching some of the locals. Also,at this stage of my life, about the only dress code i can do is shorts and t-shirt in the summer, and jeans and t-shirt in the winter For an example,American Flyers website says2995$for the cfi, cfii. Is this accurate, or are there some hidden costs in there? For all of you instructors, Where did you go,how long, and what would be a realistic cost? Thanks for your replys and help. FLY SAFE T.C. |

| Do a search on American Flyers. There was just a MASSIVE post regarding the CFI program they have which should clear it all up ![]()

| Newbie | I did my CFI, CFII, and MEI down at American Flyers in Pompano Beach FL. It took me about 45 days to knock out my CFI and CFII, I then came back and did my MEI four months later, which took 5 days. I thought long and hard about doing it at ATP, but I didn't think 14 days was a realistic time frame. Other people who where in my class ##### shorts and t-shirts every day, and no one ever had a problem with it. All of the instructors were very professional, quite a few career instructors there, didn't seem like they were trying to build time to quickly move on. |

| I obtained me initial CFI through a local FBO. It took about 2 months and a few thousand; but different from a teaching to the checkride approach - I felt I knew my material. I taught as a CFI for 2 years before I had saved enough to go for my CFII. That took 2 flights $300. With all the experience as a CFI the II was a piece of cake. Again it all came to preparation. My MEI is yet to come, when the money is in the bank again, but it will probably take 2 or 3 flights. |
