Hopefully as many as the Spruce Goose.

Flight training for the Cessna Mustang takes place through Flight Safety. Cessna has has approximately 15 Mustangs flying right now.

Last I heard all the Eclipses' (eclipsi? ) training was being done in the actual a/c as there is no sim as of yet. I spoke with a gentleman who had purchased one for personal use, and he had been assigned an eclipse employee CFI to train him. (Frighteningly enough, that buyer was concerned about operating in a busy ATC system and asked me how I got to feel proficient in the instrument environment!) Earlier in the year I'd heard Eclipse putting out feelers for qualified CFI's to train the folks who were purchasing the jet. From what I understand, the CFI was assigned to the buyer, and worked with that buyer exclusively until training was complete.

The airlines claim the skies are crowded now; wait until everyone and their mother gets their own VLJ.

I wouldn't worry TOO much about VLJs.

There is a fairly low number of people with the assets to purchase million dollar airplanes and maintain them.

I would have made that statement too..........Before I started working for NetJets.

But I'm still not worried about having "thousands" of VLJs. There are plenty of people with the money, but few of them will want to fly on something that small.

Well, just doing a SWAG, I figure if you want to buy a $2 million airplane and maintain it, you've got to have assets of what, $20 million or so?

There is a limited number of people with that kind of money. And like you said, not all of them would be interested in their own VLJ, since they'd prefer to pay folks like you to fly them around.

That's going to reduce the number of VLJs out there.

There is fractional ownership and investment companies too. I don't think it's going to make much difference to the traffic at the busiest airports, but it will increase traffic at the smaller ones. They wouldn't make those planes if they thought there's not market for it. I am all curious to see how it's going to turn out, but I think it's going to be big. I also wouldn't underestimate the number of people with seven figure incomes.

The demographic that NJA is targeted at is a VERY small niche (top) of the market. According to Forbes, there are 946 Billionaires. With that many Billionairs, there are literally thousands of people scrounging by on $20M or less. Trust me, it's not that limited.

That's kind of the numbers I figured -- tens of thousands of people.

Now, in order to have thousands of VLJs, you've got to have a very significant percentage of the people with the capital to afford a VLJ ink contracts for them.

If you've got that kind of money, why bother? Just get someone else to do the flying for you and you don't have to worry about it.

That's why they pay you, right?
