Default Take the wife for a flight!

So I have taken a few "discovery" or "introductory" flights with a few local flight schools over the years. I am going to be choosing a FBO soon to start my training to begin my career as a professional pilot. My wife is completely behind me in this idea.

What I want to do is take her up with me on a short flight to show her why I want to do this so badly. She enjoys flying a lot but has only done it on commercial planes.

Most places I have gone to take you up on a 2 seater and I wouldn't be able to bring her with to show her how great it is to take a flight in a small plane.

Anyone know anywhere in the LA area where i can take my wife up with me for a short flight? When I say this I mean I "will not: be flying the plane. I mean my wife, I and an instructor.

Let me know.

Im sure that the same FBOs you have been going to for your discovery flights in a 152 (assuming) will also have a 172 for discovery flights. FBOs are definitely going to have a 172 over a 152.

Ive taken my girl up with myself and flight instructor in the Warrior and we went through our normal lesson for the day. I also took up a buddy once. It depends on the instructor too.

Yeah, its a good weight and balance lesson also. I waited until I had some hours under my belt also. You will be flying also unless the instructor feels like showing off with some demo stalls .

Haha, yea. A Cessna 152 is one of those tiny high wing planes but can only sit 2 normal sized people and a 172 is basically the same but can fit 2 normal people up front and either 2 smaller people or 1 normal person in back (depending on fuel of course).

Im willing to bet that about 99% of FBOs have at least 1 Cessna 172 in their fleet.

You probably have your answer by now, but you might as well get some hours and learn a little bit more. Instead of an "introductory flight" you could just rent a 172 for an hour or two and pay for instruction. It might be a little more expensive but you will probably get more out of it.

Just a thought.

I trained in a Warrior, and Bill came along on a lesson or two. I think it was physically painful for him to sit back there and not say anything!

You can do that at my place in either a 172 or Cherokee. You can do it as a discovery flight but they also have some scenic/sunset flights as well.

I know out of SMO there are two FBOs that I have been to, you can try American Flyers or Justice Aviation.. I would lean towards Justice though if you want a choice of planes and not be sucked into the American Flyers "academy"
