Default "References available upon request."

Is this still "standard" canned protocol for the bottom of the resume? A few years ago every resume seemed to have it. I'm thinking about excluding it...or should I not?

Not sure per FAA. But when I was looking for a job the past few weeks. The potential employers I was considering, asked for references to be included with app.

And not avail. upon request.

I still put it, im sure it couldnt hurt anything. Just have an idea of who you would want references to be if they actually asked for them.

I include it, but I don't think it's a big deal if you leave it out; I'm sure that most employers assume that references are indeed available upon request. I think its function is mainly to say that you haven't included them, and not including them is normal and recommended for a resume. You don't want any potential employer disturbing your references until both you and they have decided you might be a good fit for each other. If they check them at all. Many don't.

At the job seminars I went to before leaving the AF, they indicated that "references available upon request" is implied, and that they should NOT be part of the resume. HOWEVER... I'd go to the interview with a nicely printed sheet of them to hand them at that time.

Really good question, I was wondering this too. I originally left it out and was then told by an XJT pilot to leave it in.

Leave it out.

I haven't been a hiring manager for an airline but I've been one for other companies.

Whenever I saw that line I kind of smirked.

Of course your references are available on request.

Use that line to put in something else to sell yourself to the potential employer!

I don't have it on mine. Company's typically have it on their "application for employment" and/or will ask if they need/want them.

I left it off mine. It seems obvious that you could provide them if asked.
