Default Question about applying

Alright so I have been instructing for a while now and have got all my hours and plenty more. I really want to start applying, however I am getting married in late october and going to hawaii right afterwards. In a perfect world I would like to get back from my honeymoon and have a job lined up, but I don't want to piss anyone off at the airlines when I say thanks for the job but I gotta take off halfway through the training to get married. Half the other CFI's I work with say just go apply and see what happens and the others say wait. And these are CFI's who don't know anymore than I do about how the airlines would handle it. So...

My question is, would it be possible to go interview and get a later traning date? Or are they going to tell me tough #### take it or leave it? Any opinions or info would be appreciated!

Getting married in late October is pretty far away from right now, since you know you want to wait until after the wedding I would not suggest applying just yet. If you were to interview a little closer to the wedding date, say early Oct, then wanting a class date after late Oct wouldn't be quite so far away. I would wait to send off apps until mid Sept. But that's just me...... I don't know if they'd say "take it or leave it", but they may not have their hiring forcast quite that far away just yet.

Wasn't someone in here posting about their frustrations of interview dates and honeymoon dates, last year? Something about turning down 5 or so interview dates in a row from the same company?

Yeah don't do that. HR doesn't care about when their canditates have other stuff going on. All they care about is when you can come in to interview. Apply when your ready.

Its not so much the interview I am worried about but the training dates, if I apply now I am pretty sure the interview would be before Oct 27, but if I get the job and they try and give me a training date that I wouldnt be able to make. But I will wait, get all my stuff together and keep on instructing. Duchess here I come!!! And thanks a bunch for the input!

I'd say don't apply unless you're ready to take the job within 2 weeks. If you do interview, be up front with them from the get go about the time off.

Guy in my class wound up having to beg, plead and make deals while in training to get his wedding day off, and he was right back in the sims the day after. They wouldn't give him any longer for a honeymoon. He took the honeymoon on his moving days.

I posted almost the same situation a month ago or so. I am getting married the second of november and met alot of the airlines mins. a couple of weeks ago. I decided to wait and send applications out until the first week in october, if I can get an interview and get hired sometime mid- to late october it would most likely put a class date at least a week after my wedding. When it came down to it, i didnt want to risk having to beg to be off for my wedding, or get stuck on reserve and have to do the same thing.
As much as I really am not enjoying instructing sunup to sundown because all our other instructors have left, I think toughing it out for another couple months will be worth it, I know my wife-to-be likes where the priority has fallen.
