Default Stolen Ipod

Be careful commuting. I just had my Ipod stolen on friday. I usually would never do this, but I was running late for a flight and had to gate check my bag. After about 5 hours of sleep the night before, it didn't dawn on me to grab my ipod out of the bag before I gate checked it.

I finally made it back home at about 12:30 AM. I didn't have a need to go back into my suitcase until I went to pack it up today. When I opened it up I realized it was gone. I only opened my bag to grab my running shoes, so I know that I didn't take it out. I hate to say it, but the only thing I can think of is that a ramper ripped it off in CHT. I'm really angry, I used that Ipod all the time. I got it as a gift last Christmas, and I could never afford to buy a new one on F/O pay.

Maybe the worst thing is like a lot of people I consider my music collection really personal. Not to mention my picture collection.

Sorry to hear about your missing gear man, that blows.

Tell you what, I worked as a ramper @ KJFK many many moons ago, and you don't even want to know what goes on with a lot of the rampers, regarding theft.

I am not calling anyone a crook, and I know that there are people here that work the ramp, but I have seen what I have seen.

You know how they say you can never eat in the restaurant after you've worked in the kitchen? Well, after working the ramp at Kennedy I never packed a bag that same way again.

Hell, I'd pack a pit-bull in my bag for security if I could!

Seriously, that is my biggest pet peeve. I hate people who have to steal from those who work hard.

What airline and station? Might be good to know for anyone else using that combination.

And these things ROCK for when the barbiejet won't take your luggage:

CHT and Airways. I almost blame myself for leaving it in my bag.

I'd talk to the station manager too.

definitely.. you can tell them what flight it was, gate, time and they should be able to look up who was working that day...It's a pretty sad day when the people you work with steal your crap.

What gives with that? On more than one occasion when gate checking a bag I have had the side pocket open when I get the bag back. Seriously, if you're going to rummage through my things looking for something good to take, at least have the courtesy to zip it back up so the other stuff doesn't fall out. No IPOD is rough.. sorry to hear.

You know what I keep in the sidepockets? Dirty socks and underwear!

That'll learn 'em!

Are we sure it wasn't one of the flight crew that took it?
