I've only had a tire blow in the sim. You notice it. If you are flying something with trucks of wheels it might not be as apparent, but the simple double wheeled mains certainly cause a lack of control when one blows.

Most likely a rejected T/O or they ran over some serious FOD. The brake energy required during a high speed reject is extreme, it can cause fires and/or freeze up the brakes if the parking brake is set.

yea we landed right after it happened. then on the way out we had a very scenic tour of JFK for an hour and a half.
