Default May I Have Your Attention PLease!!

Hello Ladies & Gentlemen,

Which is the best book that a flight instructor would want his/her student to have studied, before they begin with the training.( that would even prove efficacious in the faster completetion of the course)?????

My instructors like the Jeppesen Private Pilot Manual and study guides. I completed those before I started flying. You can even go with some of the Spory's DVDs.

You mean textbook? Book about something specific? What stage of flying(IE, what license is the student trying to get?).

Even with these questions answered, the answers will vary and be subjective I am sure you know.

For my subjective answer, I used the Jeppesen Guided Flight Discovery Textbook for my PPL. I think you will find that this is the most popular. Some also use GLEIM books. They are a bit cheaper, but don't have as many purty pictures.

If you read everything there is to know about aviation, then I am sure you will be all set.

All kidding aside, if we had an idea of what rating you were preparing for, we could probable make better suggestions.

Rod Machado's Private Pilot handbook and the ASA Private Pilot test prep, if your P61 and they study both and retain the info, all you'd really need is to do the flying.. Trust me.....Excellent combination..

I don't know the Jepp, but I LOVE my Machado PP book. It's awesome.

Honestly, it dpends on you. There is not really a straight answer to this question. Read the book "Stick and Rudder" then re-read it. To study for you FAA practical, I would recommend a Gleims to pass the knowledge test. Then the Pilots Hanbook of Aeronautical Knowledge is another one that you should read. Any FAA book is a good book to read, but it can get overcomplicated and that is why there are many many many other books out there. This is from my expereince and my study habits that I have found this out, so yours might be different. My best advice, start with with a few from different sources (ASA, Jepp, FAA) and see which ones allow you to get the most out of them. It might be a bit more expensive, but it is well worth it and it allows you to save money in the long run for your ticket. Hope that helps.

Between that and Gliems, I used the ASA book as an answer cover.

If you want to start free, download the FAA's Airplane Flying Handbook (formerly known as the "Flight Training Handbook") and the Pilot's Handbook of Aeronautical Knowledge.

They're far from perfect, but they're a good reference.

Enjoy!

THANKYOU everyone for all your kind replies & useful too.

Now i've come to realize that piloting is really a serious business.( how i wish to throw all those people from a flying jet, who say pilots are mere drivers)
