I was wondering if anyone knew of any special deals for a new bose x headset. I head they came with a GPS receiver at one point? Is that still going? Anything similar? Thanks. (Sorry if this belongs in the trading post, but since im not selling and not buying from someone here, figured it was a bit out of place.) |

They have offered the Garmin Geko the last two summers I know, other than that I don't know. As an owner I will just say this: The Bose is nice, but not worth $1000

I bought one in January and did not get anything with it and they said they were done doing that. I did finance it 0% for a year and they had a 45 day risk free trial period. Great headset, lots of money, like it better than the lightspeed and all others I have tried, but that is strictly a PREFERENCE. Something you may look into is the Bose QC2 with the uflymike set up. This seemed to be pretty good I can't speak from experience but have heard others say good things about them. I'm sure someone on this forum has tried them.

There are a few ways to get a Bose headset without paying $995. One is to have a CFI and be a member of NAFI for a discount, another one is to get with 9 other people and get a 10% discount. I owned a pair for about a year. They are nice, but I sold them a few months back. I'm not interested in having a grand tied up in a headset that doesn't allow music/cell input without an extra cost. I ended up going with a Telex Stratus 30 this time and I'm pretty happy with it so far. I can't tell you which is more quiet, but I can tell you that I'm satisfied with the ANR on the Telex, they are SUPER comfortable with the ComfortCam deal and I can own the headset AND a Zune/Stiletto for <$600. To me, Bose headsets are for guys with a lot more money to burn than I have. |

Yeah, im not thrilled about spending $1,000, but id like to make the investment a one time thing and be happy. I planed on thoroughly trying it out in that trial period, and sending it back as soon as I was disappointed. Can you guys list the next best options? Ill do some research. Its just hard, because I don't know any stores that will let me try and fly before I buy. |

All the options that I see that are comparable to the bose are either A, bulky 2, heavy or D, Ugly or all four. I like my Bose. (mad props to anyone that can catch the list format movie reference.) |

Agreed, I got em' and like them. I figure my hearing is worth the cost. Anything with ANR is a good investment to protect your hearing, whether its a Bose X or something cheaper. You'll probably not regret it when your trying to get your medical when your older and haven't lost your hearing... my .02 cents.

It's too bad people don't know about the pilot avionics headsets

| I understand Southwest doen't allow them (QC with mike adaptor)anymore, and that the FAA is looking into the matter.

I know this might sound silly, but if you are going to try them out for 45 days be sure you either... Sit on them Or Drop them on a hard surface at least once before the 45 days are up. Bose X is a great headset, but it does have some durability issues. | |

I was thinking about the QC2 option also, but I didn't see any black and white user reviews of GA Prop airplanes. You would lose audio in the headset when the batteries die, but you would be able to transmit via the UFlyMike for whatever it's worth. Also, I have heard that once the warranty expires that Bose customer service is at the bottom of the list in aviation headsets. |
