| Anyone here have any experience or know of anyone who made their living flying and because of their experience in aviation "landed" a better job ( inside or outside of aviation, but not as a pilot ) that they would not have gotten without their pilot experience ? ( I'm sure it would help if the interviewer / boss / CEO was an aviation enthusiast. ) If so, what qualities did they see as a benefit toward the new occupation ? Thanks in advance to all responses ! |

| Old Skool | Ameriflight's VP of Flight Ops is on a LOA from US Airways. The only thing that qualifies the guy for the job in my mind is being a true badass, a stand up guy and he could probably kick the crap out of Chuck Norris on sheer badass factor alone. (He's seriously a great guy, and the reason he does so well for himself seems to be linked to that fact alone. I mean he's a smart guy, but because he's just a smart, great guy he does well) |

| Senior Member | Just read a good article about jetBlue's new COO. If I remember correctly he flew for American for a little while then went into their operations center, he then went to the FAA and was in charge of getting ATC up to date. Now he's in charge of the whole jetblue operation. Here's the article: http://www.usatoday.com/travel/fligh...e_N.htm?csp=34

| Old Skool | Huge, but hopefully he won't leave. There are a ton of people at this company that are on the way out when/if this guy leaves. I can tell you if I were not already on my way out and this guy bolted then my ass would be out ASAP. |

He is one hell of a real dick, and certainly did not modernize the National Airspace System to his own standards he set when he took the office. He bit off too big a piece of the pie, and instead of manning up - and seriously attempting to fix the modernization issues, take care of the controller staffing issue, he ran away back to the private sector. He is a disgrace. Him, and The Wicked Witch Blakey. Those two alone have done more damage to the FAA than all previous administrations put together. Nothing against you Cheechako. Just as a one time ATC-CTI student, who dreamed of working traffic...I hold him, and Blakey responsible for ruining the career choice and driving our national airspace system into the ground, to the point of attempting to impose user fees on the GA population - just as they imposed a non-tract on their controllers. | |
