Okay, so how many people are delayed and where are you stuck??? Apparently, there's some type of computer glitch or something delaying most, if not all, flights along the East Coast...sorry, too lazy to find a reference, just watch the TV or look at the news.

Nothing on CNN.com Or MSNBC.com yet. Does show a good sized storm system moving in on the east coast, but that should be old news as it ha shassled the rest of the country all week.

Had advisorys and was given vectors for an ILS in Bridgeport a little over an hour ago. Haven't heard of any problems?

Radar outage at HPN and LGA facilities, all I know. Just another fine example of the FAA nickle and diming people for a better infrastructure, and them never spending said funds. Just a disgrace. |

Yeah, I guess it's pretty bad. I just talked to my Dad and it took him like 5 hours to get to Philly. I was supposed to pick him up from the airport at like 12 30 looks like he won't get in till 5 30.

Someone please tell me that the last couple of days isn't an ominous sign for the summer travel season...if so, maybe I should go back to the movie biz. |

Why was LGA closing tonight? I heard a JBU flight going up there and Miami Center asked them if there was another later flight out of Lauderdale and would they make it "before LGA closed at 0650".

If I'm not mistaken I think LGA may have a curfew, but I'm not 100% sure of that.

There was a citation trying to get out of CPS yesterday afternoon and they were told they'd have a ground hold for 2 1/2 hours and to go ahead and refile!?!?

We flew into MMU last night instead of TEB. Got up there no problem, and got out probably 3 hours faster. It's been nuts this past week in the New York area. Toooooo many planes, not enough ATC equipment to keep up with them all. Will it get worse? Sure. How much have jetBlue and Delta expanded out of JFK in the last year? How much is CAL adding to EWR? How many more bizjets are going in-and-out of TEB and HPN? It's a mess. No-one should have to wait 2 hours to takeoff when the weather is severe clear. At least yesterday there was an excuse with the storm. What a friggin mess that was. We were just glad to make it back into IAD. This was great fun getting back. I'm still trying to figure out why our track stops 30 minutes before we actually landed.

Bog, those are some nice "curly Q's" on that track. About a month ago, we went into MMU from IAD (about the time I PM'ed you about IAD) and we waited 1+50 on the ground at MMU for departure. It's all a crapshoot up there. Some times one way will work, another time nothing works. Damned airlines!!! And they want user fees!!! Go in and out of TEB and find out what all the delays are...EWR and the airlines!! |

I got stuck next to the runway in DCA for 3+ hours waiting to go to Detroit. The ground controller was really funny. He said that the problem was with the command center computer and how it was assigning routes. He called it the California Penal System Method. Ie, when the weather gets bad, you get to go home. It took me a minute to get the topical reference. Anyhow after sitting for 3 hours the captain wanted to go back to the gate for more gas and as soon as we got there they released all the traffic that was waiting to go and the company canceled our flight. It was a mess. |

That was a paid 3 hour sit, right?

Yeah, that was paid. We get block or better plus cancellation pay so I got what ever was the greater of the DCA-DTW flight (which was blocked for 1:38 so the 3 hours was more) and then the cancellation pay for DTW-DCA leg. Once interesting thing I found out was that a leg where you never leave the ground does not count towards your 24 hour lookback for compensatory rest. Because of the delays yesterday I got 7:58 minutes of scheduled rest last night. They pushed our show time back 2 minutes to make it legal. Tonight I am only due 10 hours of compensatory rest, although the captain (who flew a RDU turn out of DCA while I was trying to get to DTW) needs 11 hours because he flew more then me yesterday (even though if you can't the actual time I we both spent sitting in the airplane I had a hire total). Go figure.
