Default Re: How do you log an off-airport landing?

I'm not sure what the issue is here? Why are soft field landings part of the PTS?

There are hundreds of backcountry strips in UT, as well as the Salt Flats. I know guys that go out and land on them all the time. There are a bunch of backcountry clubs too. Hell last time I was at Green River (U34) there was a whole herd of super cubs (at least 25 of them) headed out to the boonies.
There is no reg against it, so long as it was conducted safely there is no problem.

Now if it was a matter of a rental plane and landing on dirt is against the rental policy thats a different story. But how are they going to know if you don't tell them?

Dirty tires.

and the owner of the plane was with me so I'm all good.

The only other thing with an off airport landing is that the land owner may have a problem.

"The Engine wouldn't run at full RPM, once I landed I discovered it was because of insufficient fuel supply to the engine (read: I pulled the throttle back and landed), sorry sir, we fixed the problem and will be on our way"

I am not sure about Nevada, but in Utah without priors a Trespassing ticket is like a $25 fine. I get threatened with them all the time by people that think they own rivers. I always tell them to go ahead and call the Sherrif, and if the Sherrif actually bothers to show up, and if he actually bothers to write me a ticket, I really don't care. So far the Sherrif has never even been called.
