Exclamation Anyone that is in/from NY and would like to tour Navy LHD...

I know it's generally a big deal for the Navy/military to be up here in New York for Fleet Week, but I don't know how many people really know that we come up. To any jetcareers.com folks out there interested, I make this special proposal; if you're interested in a tour onboard USS WASP, I'd be more than happy to take anyone on a personal tour of the ship. We currently have onboard for display one each of MH-53 Stallion, SH-60 Sea Knight, AH-1 Cobra, and the super-sweet MV-22 Osprey! They've also got a few static displays down in the hanger. If anyone is interested, please send me an email (ltaylor@lhd1.navy.mil) or a PM. Our main purpose for being here this week is to show off what your US Navy is all about! Why not take advantage! Looking forward to seeing at least a few of you guys! I guess I should add that the days I will be available are Thursday, Friday, Monday (after 6pm; have to get back to the ship from the airport) and Tuesday. I'm flying out of LGA to FNT Saturday and will be gone until Monday early afternoon. And if you do already know that we're here and want to stop by, just let me know. It will make getting you onboard a lot quicker if I know you are coming!!

I believe we're all here through the 30th. They've got us spaced out some, so that we're not all on the same set of piers as well. We (LHD-1) are filling in the carrier spot in Manhattan Island, then there is also (to the best of my knowledge); 2 destroyers, 2 cruisers and a friggit somewhere else. I'd have to do a little research to see who's where. My numbers may be a little off...don't quote me.

Good on you LftSeat for offering tours to JC'ers.

I'm surprised you guys are actually having tours open to the public even at Fleet Week. When I was in I had to spend many a duty day as "ship's tour guide." I even had my route down pat - well deck, upper V, hangar, up the big ramp to the flt. deck, down through the island to the mess decks, back to the hangar, upper V, and then sayonara. If they were friends or family, I might add the "scenic route" to forward CIWS and the missile deck, through Combat, and maybe berthing. I know since 9/11 the Nav's really tightened up on opening up the ships to the general public.

By the way, you happen to know a big Mexican named FC2 Flores on the Wasp?

Oh yeah, I knew Flores...lol. He's been gone for quite some time now. Probably something like 2 years or more actually. Yeah, I'm just glad to have the chance to make the offer to anyone who wants to take me up on it. For some people it's a one-in-a-lifetime opportunity. I've got no qualms against hooking people up. Your tour seems about the norm still actually, lol. Good thing for anyone who wants to come by, is that I have the hook up to all the cool spaces/mounts. I think I know every single FC on this beast, haha. ANYWAY, hopefully some more people get a hold of me. Cheers!!

What's a SH-60 Sea Knight? Is that a new helo? I'm just bustin your ballz man! The new MH-60S is called the Knighthawk. The CH-46 is the Seaknight. The MH-60 is a POS anyways. I wish I could make it up for fleet week. I used to love it. Never had to pay for a drink or a meal. New Yorkers were very gracious and hospitable. Have fun!

Yeah, yeah. So I typo'd! LOL...I meant SH-60 Seahawk, actually. It was the end of a loooong day when I posted that up. Thanks for the correction though. No offense intended! haha...!!
