I might have been type rated, but to say I had 'command' of anything that was going while Bennie the Capt was back taking a break would be a gross overstatement!

I'm already studying for my Madrid trip.

You mean there's more to being in 'command' than pushing some buttons and telling the FMS where to go? Just ask Joe Twelvepack in Panda Express about that one. There is really very little for you to do up there except drink your in-flight cocktails and play graba$$ with the flight attendants.

I think Continental already fly 757ER's on EWR-BHX (that's Birmingham International,UK to save ya'all looking it up!!) route, so trans-Atlantic 757 is already operated by one US major on international, so I'm not surprised DAL is planning that for Glasgow, Shannon, Edinburgh.

I've got a few great (well I think they're great!) questions, are there any airports, so close to joining the NATs that you have to have the oceanic clearance before take-off? I'm guessing Shannon might be?

Doug, you mentioned problems with understanding the French controllers, what were the UK and Irish ones like? I'm guessing you had to overfly us in lil' ole' England to get to Paris.

Does the squwak box get turned off when you're in the oceanic tracks, since there's no radar to read it?

Why is the workload so high in the oceanic tracks? Don't you just call Gander or Shanwick every 10 degrees east/west and say you're there?

How did you end up with a 48 hour layover at CDG, is there a wierd flight schedule out of CVG that misses a day? Or did crew scheduling invent it for your first IOE?

Doug, lemme know if you get a LGW run this summer, I'll happily show you round London. Good luck with the MAD trip

Lots of paperwork and I don't know what the hell I'm doing 90% of the time! I'm brand newbie!

Nope, it was in the bid package. There are a number of 48 hour layovers, even some 72- and a sprinkling 96-hour layovers on occasion depending on the time of year and the city.

Well, since I'm at "the last job I'll ever have" I've stopped keeping an official log book, so I don't know...

I'm hoping someone will chime in with the appropriate FAR reference...

Sorry, a bit of a necropost.

But when the heck did you show up here, and without an announcement that you're around!?

I've known this here jackass for about 10 years now, and I was wondering when he was finally gonna show up on these forums!

He simply engages the autocaptain.

So the captain can actually log PIC while he's sound asleep??? Friggin' awesome!

Keep your hands off of my domestic trips! Unless you want to take some of these west coast redeyes I'm getting stuck flying. Decided to check out your workings here. Great job!

Youd' be suprised of how many emails I get from people asking "So what's 767 training like" and I have to tell them, "well, I blogged it! Where ya been! "

I'm starting a Madrid trip sunday evening so there'll be more soon.
