| Old Skool | I thought they hired a nephew or something like that of Mr. Colgan. Maybe that is the one!

| Oh, well that could be the case! I know guys going through Saab training with 800 hrs that are having a hard time. I can't imagine going through training on the Beech with less than what I have.

Wow...I can't believe people have the balls to submit applications at this low of time. I'm at 320TT/200Multi ..now Colgan is by far my choice number 1, however I'm not even close to thinking about it. Are these guys making it through training? |

As seldom said on here, alot of people don't need the "balls" to apply. They just don't know.

| Something tells me that a nephew of Mr. Colgan wouldn't actually go through an interview....

Who knows. With only 2 days left before my checkride, I just now feel like I'm able to stay ahead of the Beech. Somebody with 250 hours and 40 multi would have a much harder time in my opinion. Last edited by Airdale; April 22nd, 2007 at 23:33.

You are not. Much different sim environment then when ATC is trying to flow you into LGA or BOS during rush hour.

Well I meant being ahead of the sim. I know the airplane is different. If you can't be ahead of the airplane in the sim, then how can anyone expect to pass the checkride in it. All I know, is that at my flight time, its taken me awhile to feel comfortable in the sim. And even still, I don't feel 100% comfortable in it. But I've only got two sim sessions left before a checkride.

Dude, you are going to PWN that thing! Just don't settle for anything but your best in there. If you screw something up, try to be the first to point it out and then request to reperform the task. The Check Airman only has a couple hours to see you fly that thing so make sure they know that even though you make mistakes, you know how to correct them and you strive to continuously improve and do NOTHING unsafe.

Thanks guys! Tonight my instructor must have been feeling frisky with those failure buttons, cuz I swear I got like 10 failures! Failed my gear, my bleeds, my AC bus, my engine, my avionics, my dc gen, my pitot heat and I'm sure I'm missing a few more. My sim partner was having a coughing attack for like 5 minutes straight while running single engine checklists. Fun! But the instructor said we've come a long way and the next two sessions are mock checkrides. Thanks for the luck, I'll be sure to keep posted! I gotta hit the FLOPP again though, I'm sure there will be questions from indoc on the oral. |

They are hiring that low now. I flew with a Captain that helped out with a recent interview and he told me they hired someone with 200 something hours, but more multi. He was from ATP or avi ben or something, but it is happening. Its even on ATPs website, some guy with 334TT and 250 ME. Everyone is different I guess when it comes to training, someone with 400 hours might be sharper than someone with 1000TT, but that 400 hour guy wont have nearly the same experience level. If low timers were all failing out, they wouldnt hire any of them because its a waste of money and we all know how cheap colgan is, so they must be getting through training. We had 5 or 6 guys with 500 hours in my class last year and the only person that failed out had close to 1000hrs |
