It seems logical that a major would prefer someone with 2000 hrs of PIC time in a 90-seat jet over someone with the same times in a BE-1900, but is this truly the case?

not so much.....1000 hours Multi Engine Turbine PIC is 1000 hours Multi Engine Turbine PIC.......Doesnt really matter if you are flyin a jet or a twin turbo prop to most majors...You have the experience and the knowledge, you are good in their book....

It especially won't matter if you're flying a 90-seater that took one of your panel-member's flying on your hiring board (TIC).I should also add that it's ALL ABOUT THE JOURNEY. I went from Seminoles to a CRJ and would've loved to fly a turboprop. I'm not going to give up my number here now that I have it, but I do regret never strapping on a 1900 and flying in the gunk.

99.99999999999999999% chance that it is WHO you know that will get you that job at a major.

Turbine is turbine unless they specifically say "jet". And there'd be a lot of unemployed C130 and P-3 drivers out there which there aren't! ![]() Once upon a time, if you wanted to work at Southernjets, you'd had to have attended Auburn, flew P3's in the Navy and live in PNS it seems like.

Back to the topic at hand, I rode up front back to Burbank tonight on a SWA jet (it was so smooooth). The story is turbine is turbine doesn't matter in what, and swapping Navajo stories with the CA. They fell over when I told them how much time will get you an interview at the regionals. Doug BTW the FO is a C130 driver

Herkie! ![]() One of my last captains in SLC was a special ops C130 "Spectre" driver. Some of the stories he had, geez!

We had a jumpseater out of GPT who flew C-130's out of Keesler for the Air Force Reserve. Hurricane Hunter! A seat in the back opened up before push so we didn't have long to chat though.

And knowing someone is not the ONLY way to get an interview. From 9/2005 to 3/2006 I interviewed at 3 majors, and actually got an offer from one.
