Default XJT New Paint in CLE ??!!

I was driving down the Berea Freeway (237?) past CLE. I was surprised to see an XJT plane in the new paint parked outside. Why was it there? It was the new branded flying paint. Was it there for maintenance? I was really surprised to see it there, but it sure looked nice. I wish i could have got a better look.

Most likely a Charter. The Charter planes have the same paint.

I though the charter planes were just the same as the ones they fly for continental, with the exception of a plain blue tail and no "Continental Express". But i could very well be wrong, and probably am!

Yeah... the plain jane "blue-tails" were the charter planes in the beginning.

XJT had charter business immediately after getting the birds from the COEX system. They didn't have time to paint them... so they took the COEX letters off and the globe on the tail as a quick fix until the plane could make it to the paint shop.

When I went through CLE a couple week ago there were a couple planes in the new paint there. I'm not sure if it was for mx or if that is just where they want to keep a couple of the charter planes "based".

Would there be a chance that a plane in the "house" paint would be flown on a CoEx route?

If you saw it at a gate... or most likely the hardstands In IAH then you probably actually saw a CHQ plane that they cross-utilize throughout their system... They are usually white and non-descript with maybe a blue tail so it can be CAL or Delta, etc...

No... that would be against our contract with them... and it wouldn't be very kosher to load up CAL's passengers on a plane painted in a competitors paint scheme...

CHQ has some blue tails they fly for CO that look similar to the ones ExpressJet de-titled. Look for "ExpressJet" or "XJET.COM" on the engine, otherwise it's not ours.

Bob

I think it would be cool if we could have a couple airplanes painted up in a Skyteam scheme that we could have some flexibility with between the CO and DL operations, but I'm not sure that would be allowed.
