What airplane do you use to get the flight portion of it?

You don't need it to get hired by an airline. you only need it if your flying over 25,000 MSL and complete ground training in the following areas:

High- alt aerdynamics and meteorology
respiration
hyoxia effects and symptoms
prolunged use of supplamental oxygyn
duration of consciousness without supplamental oxygen
preventive mesures for eliminating gas bubble formation and high alt sickness
incidents of compression
and any other psychologial aspects of high alt flight

along with emergency decent procedures and normal operations whilie crusing above 25,000 feet msl

I got mine through ATP's JEt transition stage during the 90 day program.

I received high altitude training at the airline I work for now but I did not get an endorsement because I am not acting as PIC.

Unless things have changed since I looked at it last (which is a real possibility) it used to be that you needed it to act as PIC on any aircraft that's certified to fly over FL250 - regardless of the actual altitude you fly.

Thats what I was thinking also. I just got my FAA pilots physiological endorsement from Fairchild AFB and they said the same thing.

I had an interview for a Citation SIC, and the Chief Pilot asked me if I had the endorsement. Was just curious about options and if anyone had any input.

yeah your correct according to 61:31 (g)(1):

"no person may act as Pilot in command of a pressurized a/c (an a/c that has a service ceiling or maximum operating alt which is lower, above 25,000 MSL), unless that person has recived ground training in the following areas:..."

I just worded it wrong.

How'd that go? Our aviation club was going to do that last spring at Fairchild, but their dates and ours didn't match up so we didn't get a chance. I was looking forward to it. However, we did get to check out the base quite a bit, including a KC-135 as seen in my avatar.

It was ok. Very long! Most of it was already known material and the folks that worked there were great.

(g) Additional training required for operating pressurized aircraft capable of operating at high altitudes.
(1) Except as provided in paragraph (g)(3) of this section, no person may act as pilot in command of a
pressurized aircraft (an aircraft that has a service ceiling or maximum operating altitude, whichever is
lower, above 25,000 feet MSL)
You are good if you are certified to 25,000 for example the pressurized baron's are certified TO 25,000 so you can act as PIC...there is a reason it is not certified to 25,001

It is kind of like when must you use oxygen when flying level at 12,000 feet.....never
