......it's snowing here (Ft. Worth, TX) AGAIN!!! ![]() Last night, the talking weather-head said, and I quote: "Some of north Texas may see some fluries, but it's HIGHLY unlikely we'll see any anywhere near the Metroplex. It should stay WELL north of us." Liar.

| Darn!! And I was in DFW last week finishing up my sims! Oh, well. Now that I'm back in BK, I get to see that dandruff stuff again. ![]() I didn't get the impression that the folks in TX have difficulty driving in poor weather...

| Senior Member | if it were snowing in houston or brownsville then it would be. its not uncommon to get a winter storm in DFW, though its usually ice. Even austin gets a day or two of snow most years. Up in the panhandle snow is common. TX is a big place |

I can sum up the winter-weather driving abilities of DFW residents in two words: INSURANCE DEDUCTABLES Or, to put it another way, what do you get when you cross a egomaniacal hilbilly, with a giant RWD nose heavy pickup truck, with 1/8 inch of ice on I-30? Answer: An estatic auto-body shop owner. "I got's me a fower wheeul draive! YEEEEEHHAAAWWWWW!!!" *crashbangwhallop* |

| If it rains to hard people are sliding all over the place. People were passing me by and wrecking a few miles ahead of me when I was there during a winter storm last year. They don't know how to slow down and take their time. Just because they have trucks and suv's don't me that they can go anywhere and do anything either.

I'm just ticked because I just got in from shovelling 6 inches of pellets off my sidewalk. Here's my world: KEWR 141809Z 141818 35020G28KT 1/2SM PLSN FZFG OVC004 TEMPO 1819 1SM -FZDZ BR FM1900 34020G30KT 4SM BR OVC008 TEMPO 1921 2SM -FZDZSNPL BR FM2100 32025G32KT 5SM BR OVC015 TEMPO 2123 -SN FM0000 31025G35KT P6SM OVC020 TEMPO 0203 5SM -SHSN OVC012 FM0400 30018G32KT P6SM SCT025 And the damned SOCC hasn't dropped a single thing off my suicide EWR-BDL-CLE-SYR-EWR day trip tomorrow!! |

Yeah. And that's MY car! His is in the garage. You'd never guess it had been wiped off clean just a couple of hours before that picture was taken.

I shoveled once, and later these two kids came by offering to do it for $10. Best $10 I ever spent!

In mid-January we had a bad week. They threatened ice every day of the week. On Monday, no ice but on the grass. Half the people call in at my work. The rest of us are sent home 2 hours early so we don't risk driving in bad weather in the dark. I drove home on completely dry roads, the sun shining in my eyes. Tuesday, same thing. More people call off. We get sent home same time on dry roads. Wednesday, ICE!! holy cow we got ice on the bridges, and a little bit here and there. Schools are closed(My wife the school teacher, is thrilled). As I drive into work, some dingleberry is trying to scrape the ice up in the parking lot with a backhoe. He just made it nice and smooth ice now! I do donuts for fun in the far corner and get told off for doing such dangerous things. Thursday, its' raining and 34 degrees. Roads are slick, but no ice. Most of work doesnt come in. We get sent home at noon. Friday, rain and above freezing again. The president buys 200 pizzas for the people that came in. Ridiculous. | |
