I was going to be going to Chicago, out to Teterboro, back to Chicago, then home today (GRR-PWK-TEB-PWK-GRR), but the pax cancelled because of concern getting back in this afternoon. Looks like a good choice. I got to stay home and shovel the driveway instead...again. Measurable snowfall here 29 out of the last 31 days.

Another reason why I live in Texas.....we never have to dig our cars out or grab a shovel to get to work. Plus NO STATE INCOME TAX!

Goota love my last 2 days flying this run. Last night I almost had to hold so they could take 30 minutes to try to clean the runway enough for us to land in DSM. A lovely approach to mins in blowing snow and a 20-25 Kt crosswind. Tonight, MDW has near those conditions. I'm almost done!!! |

They canceled our CLT-IND turn. Can't take off when there are ice pellets.

It's funny that after those days of negative temps, I walked around (and by around, a mile and a half) in 20F and blowing snow and felt just fine.

It finally stopped snowing here after around 16 hours of snow. I've got a solid 8 inches in my driveway......twice that where the drifts are. 16" drifts and one broken snowblower = pissed off WindyCity!

Thank GOD I'm off for the next few days!!! Lately ALL of my trips have been originating out of ORD because we are so short-staffed there on the CRJ. As such, we've been deadheading to ORD, flying a trip, then deadheading back. Hell ORD is a nightmare if someone reports a rain drop within 20 miles of the place....let alone when it actually snows.

I was hopin to float that one eventually but since were the opposite 8/6 I guess I wont get to. I heard LCK - STP on Sunday is like a van guy's right of passage or something like that haha. | |

Yes, the Sunday schedule is definitely a rite of passage. This past week, it was 4.9 block to block due to winds. I was ready to be out of that airplane!!! I used to want to do international flights, but having done those Sunday legs, I'm not so sure I want to sit there for 8-12 hours+ (I know, there are breaks and back-up crews, but you get the point ).

It was my birthday too. We made it into ORD, and since the rest of my day was cancelled, I got to go home and have a birthday dinner with my wife (and shovel 8 or 10 inches).

It seems like the entire east coast was a mess today. Serves me right for bidding a rotation that took me east of DEN! Bad Doug, no donut.
