Ok, question time:

JC'r sends out apps and get interview with CMR, offered and hires (no others on horizon). 2-3yrs upgrades to CA. 2 more years has 1500PIC hours, looking for Major. Would a DAL JC'r assist in getting to DAL?

All you might possibly want to know about the "Regional Jet Defense Coalition (?!) from the RJDC's Perspective

Aww... I can't believe you linked to them. Now google is going to think they are important or something.

I had the "joy" of sitting on a CMR jumpseat with one of the CAs who is involved in that. I eventually had to pretend to go to sleep. The funny thing is he made some comment about how it is strange how he only flies with newbies on reserve.

Honestly it would probably be easier for a GoJets or a Freedom-A guy to go to Delta, than a Comair guy. That is how bad the Delta guys are pissed at Comair, for screwing with them. To a lot of major guys the regionals are just a big , with not much seperating one group from another.

Good? Bad?

You decide.
Dunno bout that one. I heard that Delta's contract with ASA states that a signifigant portion of feed flying out of ATL has to be done by ASA!

It is genuinely refreshing to see that attitude from someone with your experience level! I often see guys with similar experience levels REALLY REALLY burned out with flying in general; their love is just gone from it. That has been my reservation with pursing the airlines because I'm afraid they will ruin my love of it. But when I see your positive attitude on flying, I realize practically nothing can take away that love of flying. I have been in love with flying ever since I can remember, myself, hell my first word was "airplane." In a close approximation of what DaVinci said, I have tasted flight and forever shall I long to return. Again thank you!
Ok, end of corny thought for now

If SKYW dissolves ASA, what happens to their contract then?

My point is, alot can change in a small amount of time, contract or not.

I guess I just have a hard time believing that a new CMR hire applying to DAL in the next 5 years will be singled out and not hired.

Just a thought though...

Well, people alre already leaving in groves. So it'd just be a mass exit. SKYW is already having a hard time staffing the flying that they already have.

If ASA is dissolved, mother Delta wouldn't like the sound of bleeding cash!

No ones saying that a CMR pilot wouldn't get hired, but the treatment by the pilot group, wouldn't quite be of a happy nature.

I dunno.

Personally speaking, if I had any aspirations of working there, I wouldn't go to Comair. But that's just me.

Your mileage may vary.

If ASA were to be "dissolved" the contract with between ASA and Delta would be null and void. SkyWest would also have to either get their current contract ammended to incluse all the ASA flying or Delta would start another RFP, which is the most likely case.

Though Delta doesn't own ASA anymore, it still owns ASA Holdings, which I thought was weird when I saw the Ch.11 filing.

And that means?

Oh, and they own all of ASA's planes too!

I'm not sure in what capacity ASA Holdings has post sale. Like Comair Holdings owns Comair, DCA and Delta Air Elite.

I'd hope that if someone wasnt involved in the CMR/DAL shakeup 5+ years ago, that it wouldnt affect their potential future employment with DAL.

I agree with you. I would not mind working for DL in the future. It would stink that they wouldn't hire me because of something that happened 5-6 years ago. I'm a new hire and did not have anything to do with that situation years ago. But does that sound similar to Freedom guys who have been hired after Mesa formed that alter ego non-union airline. I'm not a prick, just trying to move onto better things later on in life.
