Default Major Changes in American Eagle pilot recruitment

As You Are Aware, American Eagle Is
Actively Recruiting New Hire Pilots. Our
Current Projection Needs Are for 60
New Hires Per Month. This Activity Is A
result Of The Recall Of Flowback Pilots
To Aa, activation Of Additional Saabs And
Normal Attrition. All Of This Activity Will
Result In Upgrade And Transition
Opportunities For Current Eagle Pilots.

To Help Meet Our Recruiting Needs We
Are Taking Numerous Steps: We Have
Entered Or Revised Current Bridge
Agreements With A Great Number Of
Credited Aviation Schools. These
Agreements Allow For Applicants To Be
Hired At Eagle With Less Than Our
Normal Hiring Minimums, Based On Their
Schools Programs. Our Recruiting
Department Has Hired Additional
Recruiters, And Reviewed All Internal
Processes To Improve The Flow Rate,
Reduce Administrative Burden And Keep
Us Competitive With Other Airlines. We
Are Also More Flexible In Allowing New
Hires A Choice Of Domicile, With A
Confirmation Prior To Training.

The Next Step We Are Taking Is To Lower
The Minimum Time Requirements For
Applicants To 800 Hours Of Total Time And
100 Hours Of Multi Engine.
This Will Also
Allow Us To Compete With Other
Regional Airlines. I Have Our Staff At The
Training Department Reviewing All Of
Our Training Programs, To Determine
Changes They Feel Necessary To Ensure
Our New Hires Meet The High Standards
We Have For Our Line Pilots. While Initial
Requirements May Be Lower, Our High
Standards For Successful Completion
Remain Unaltered.

We Have A Lot Of Positive Things
Happening. Please Continue To Refer
Friends And Acquaintances To American
Eagle. Fast-growing Regionals Promise
Lower Time To Captain, But We All Know
That Changes Occur Quickly In This
Business, Which Can Radically Alter What
Might Happen In Two To Three Years.
Eagle Represents The Opportunity To
Learn From And Fly With The Best In The
Industry From A Carrier With An
Established And Productive Network.

Interesting. Who was it that prophesized they would have to do something like this to attract enough pilots? It was in a thread about Eagle a month or so ago. Anyway, good call to whoever you are.

Seems like Eagle is taking some good steps in the right direction.

Don't know why the capitalization is like that. I just borrowed this from another aviation webforum.

awesome news!

this might make a good oppurtunity for someone who wants to work at the rock... since very few will wanna work there... so if you are having bad luck getting hired, maybe AE can help you out as long as you want the rock as your main hub...

you know, I thought about that... i speak 0 spanish, but it might be cool to live there for a year or so, just something diff...

They really are hurting for pilots. Good move on their part.

I spoke with Claudette @ the Air Inc convention here in Dallas....they are hiring pilots like crazy. I guess they are not meeting the goal for there new hire class. I submitted my resume directly to her, on a Saturday, and on Tuesday I recvd a call from Tiffany @ Eagle to fill out an application online.

I'm just waiting on my driving record from California, then I have to give her a call again and let her know that everything is complete.

My biggest worry was not knowning where you are going to be based out of. This would help out a greatly. I hope to get a call from AE or Express Jet soon

Are the upgrades coming down the last time I heard it was taking forever to upgrade? If so what should you expect now?

The upgrades will come down as we get more people. We have to reduce flying and park planes because we don't have enough pilots.

more hiring = more pilots
more pilots = more flying
more flying = more upgrades
more upgrades = faster upgrades
faster upgrades = more money sooner

ok.. I think I took that far enough. You get the point.

Like it or not, my money is that they will have to increase pay to get the amount of pilots they need. And they better consider it fast, because the rest of the regionals appear to be sucking up just about every pilot with a pulse right now.

Look at the airline placements page on ATP for this month. Eagle was onsite earlier in the week and did not hire a soul? I bet all the qualified guys were waiting for Pinnacle interviews, unless Eagle did not make the offers right then and there.

When you do the ATP interviews do you choose only one, or do you do multiple companies?

Also, they might have to increase first you FO, but it looks like they still need low time to fill the slots. I see it going down even more.....all the way to 250/10 (CMEL)????

250 just seems ridiculously low, even to a noob like me who thinks he can take on the world.

You can get your CMEL with lower TT than that using FTDs for part of it.

You're offered a conditional offer for employment (based on completing the jet course) if they like you. You may interview with multiple companies.
