Wow, Subpilot! How many planes are being parked as a result of the pilot shortage?

"lower minimum times" + "faster upgrade periods" = "captains with lower total times, and more importantly, experience" <--Sounds like a formula for success. -SARCASM MUCH??

yea that would be true if there was faster upgrade time at eagle. by the time some of these guys are eligible for upgrade they have thousands of hours in type. i wouldnt say they are not experienced.

plus Eagle requires 3000 hours to upgrade. This is more than some regionals.

| Your not jumping anyone in seniority. Your number still stays the same. If you ahve the hours and upgrade, the person more senior to you will upgrade one day as well, and they will be above you when they come to your base. Some chose not to upgrade for better quality of life as a senior FO.

| I don't know how people do it. I don't consider a regional paycheck "liveable" until you get onto the captain column. I guess I also have to consider that I have a family and know from my past job the difference in QOL my prior paychecks provided over my current paychecks. I suppose being young and single I can see holding off on the upgrade for QOL.

| In Abilene, TX they have about 20 something SAABs. It is quite a sight to see.

One thing Eagle does to promote people upgrading is that if you have the seniority to hold captain and you do not bid for it then your longivity pay will freeze at the 6 year level.
