Default GoJets Question

I believe this is a sensitive topic to everyone, so please go easy on me. I don't want to start a flame war... this is just an honest question.

What's up with the whole GoJets endeavor? Why is it such a hot topic... I honestly don't understand it.

As is my understanding it's an airline within an airline (ie: Song to Delta). Is it that they're starting it to undercut the "mainline" TSA pay?

Please be civil here... I'm just trying to understand the hubbub...

"... I honestly don't understand it"

Start by spending an hour with the search feature. There has been a lot of discussion about this in the past.

GoJets is NOT an airline within an airline.

They are a non-union alter-ego airline created be TS holdings to fly the 70 seat jets for less than the TSA pilots get for their 50 seat jets.

The same thing happened with the origional Freedom over at Mesa (nothing to do with the current freedom) except its the same certificate.

Not that I don't enjoy bashing gojets as much as the next guy, but they are actually a union shop. The Teamsters picked them up. However, the people actually running the union are management pilots.

So they did a second time?

Gotta love the bogus union drive they had with zero pilots

And how the heck is a union run by management?

Am I to understand that if a person applies to TSA, they are, in fact, applying to GoJets too?

I apologize for the redundant thread.

A union is run by management pilots when it is "voted" in by a pilot list that only has management pilots on it at the time. Now that they have regular line pilots there was a TA floated that the group voted down. Interesting stuff.

And no, applying to TSA does not mean you are going to GoJets. They were playing that game before, but I don't know if that happens every time. I have a friend that is going through ERJ training at TSA right now.

Less than $18k/year and still call it legal?

Hot Topics archive! I think there might be something in there.

But if you go to GoJets, I'm whipping your ace!

Yep... in school down here in OKC for ATC -- assigned to CAK when I get out.

I would have liked to do the pilot thing, but it was purely financial. I can't live on $18k for the next 5 years of my life.

By the time most of you are making $36k, I'll be making close to $100k (and perhaps a tower manager).

CAK!!!!! HEY CAK! When do you think you will end up in this area?
Also, I thought there was a pay reduction for controllers?

Yeah, what can I say... I'm a scab.

Seriously though.... the sentiment among everyone is that the pay WILL go back up. Apparently NATACA's talks went really well last Thursday --- but it is the federal government.... so we shall see.

Oh... I'll be arriving in CAK sometime around March 15th (if everything goes well... if not... there's always Mesa).

Uh oh... now you've given me a reason to whip this one out, "Cessna 123, remain clear of the Akron/Canton Class Charlie airspace."

Seriously though, I'll probably down below memorizing taxiway diagrams and approach procedures.
