What is the best flight school for becoming a commercial pilot? I would appreciate any feedback.

Start with some information about yourself and we'll see if we can help you narrow down your search. Give us as much background on yourself as you are willing to divulge, and what your goals are in aviation. What kind of commercial flying do you want to do?

Without question Gulfstream. You get 250 hours true right seat time in a B1900! How can you beat that? Plus, you dont even get your CFI. Why would anyone want to instruct when you can buy your time and get the hell out to a regional. The training is so good there, you can get hired with less than 300 hours to fly a jet all for a reasonable price.

| Old Skool | Did you do all your time at ATP, or just finish up there?

I don't know where you are located but if you are just after a commercial ticket I would go to a local FBO and get it. I would avoid the academy type schools (Westwind, Pan Am, etc) who are going to try and get you to sign up for their simulated 135/121 groundschool training which is a waste of several thousand dollars. You will get that training at an airline you get hired at for free. I would need to hear your story a little more to give more advice. |

"Then what, sit around at said FBO praying for some multi students?" Oh, I thought you were seriously asking a question and not making a statement with your question. My bad... As to the problem of building multi-time, the schools that have multi-time as part of their program use time-building. You can pay for that anywhere. Also, there are 135 outfits that will hire you with very little multi, but you gotta be willing to work hard, be up all night, and fly freight in airplanes older than you. Those with SJS or part of a bridge program need not apply.... |

CFI's instruct in singles too, ya know. ![]() Or, a multitude of other jobs, such as pipe line, banner towing, etc. Or, you need to it to work at a place like Flight Express. No multi required. Consider this: most looking for entry level jobs have considerably more single than multi time. Many have 1000-1200 hours, with only 100 of that as multi. Starting to see why the commercial certificate is needed? | |
