Default ExpressJet

So the night is winding down at work and George Norry goes to commercial. The Wall Street news blurb comes and says......A new airline is about to take to the skies....."ExpressJet will be serving markets they see as yet untapped....." New airline....O.K......

Glad to see we are tapping into the "Coast to Coast" market... Should make for some interesting flights with some of those folks on board!

New being they are flying under their own name, OWN markets. This flying will have no relation to CAL whatsoever. I believe they are using the planes they have after los of flying from the 69 planes.

Found this on APC...

-XJT to launch new, self-branded airline within weeks using 44 aircraft
-Offering new routes serving unique city pairs such as San Diego-Omaha and Sacramento-Tuscon
-New airline to offer leather seats and satellite radio

GREAT article about the new XJT Ops from Wall Street Journal Columnist Scott Mccartney:

New Airline to link small, mid-size cities.

Yeah... he said "new" airline too... oh well... still a great read about the "how's and why's" and how different it is from FlyI's plans.

One of the best comments is towards the end:

Quote:
In a way, (XJT) fulfills the original mission of the 50-seat regional jet, designed in the 1980s and 1990s to bring jet service to small towns. Instead, over the past few years airlines have used regional jets on mainline routes, drawn to lower labor costs at regional airlines or the benefits of replacing old, gas-guzzling aircraft.

"There are 1,900 50-seat airplanes in this country and every one of them ended up flying into and out of a hub," says Mr. Ream. "No one has ever tried point-to-point with the regional jet."

Yes, according to the rumor anyway...

Other alcoholic (mixed) drinks and wine will be $3.00 from what we've been told.

"Ladies & Gentlemen... from the flight deck, this is your first officer speaking. I'd like to take a moment and welcome you aboard Continental Express Flight 2138 operated by ExpressJet Airlines... Today we'll be cruising at an altitude of 36,000 feet and our flight time will be..."

Not everybody says it... but most do. We've all made it a priority to get the name out there... especially over the past year.

If you want to see some of the new cities, just got to the XJT web site and check under Job Opportunities and see what stations they are hiring for.

Meh...

Easier to look here:

It's from an article out of the Bakersfield Californian: Airline to start service at Meadows

As you can see... this is not a small venture. We are starting this with more airframes than some smaller regionals even have to begin with. It's getting exciting... the news is out in the local markets and we are seeing the flood of new articles and press releases throughout the country.

I'm imagining that our profit sharing checks will be considerably less for next year with the considerable startup costs. But... if things work out... then... well... a year or two down the road might be very interesting indeed.

(keeping fingers crossed)

Bob

Thanks for the map Bob! I'm glad to see XJT back in BOI! Like I said before, I really like what they are doing. I think it's time for my buddy to walk in my resume

All flights are being operated under the "jetlink" operator cert/call sign, right?

Hi Max,

Yes... we're not a new new airline with a new operating certificate or a new call sign...

From that perspective... everything is "status quo"... There will be different flight number groupings to differentiate COEX/ExpressJet/CorpCharter flights though... but they will still all begin with our call sign "JetLink..." and out operating certificate will still be BrittAir.
