My data says that some FBO's provide quality training and some big academies, with big websites, don't always. You can't paint with a broad brush. If really depends on the CFI's you work with and your attitude. In my experience, the majority of guys I've known that went to the majors and regionals came from smaller flight schools. I don't think you mean to imply that Horizon, Skywest, UPS, and even Delta, are not "reputable" airlines because they have hired these guys. These four airlines (and many more) hired folks I've trained for their IFR when they were starting out and I wasn't even a flight school...just a CFII with a nice 172 instructing in my spare time. By the time you interview at a major, whether you went to FSA or Joe's doesn't mean squat. |
