| Old Skool | Ok, wife and I have been talking and working on reducing our spending to allow me to move over to aviation if I can ever get my ASS in gear. We have been reducing the past few years, but she is asking me for the living budget to see if we really can make it on First year FO and her PT job. What is the actual takehome (not including per diem) seen by you First year FO's this year? Check that last paycheck! Thanks Tracy |

| I made about $24,000 my second year of first year FO pay. It was significantly lower my true first year of first year FO pay, which was in the $19,000 range. As a second year FO, I made about $41,000. Hope this helps!

| Well, he asked for "take-home pay," which, to me, means net. I take home $1,200/month plus any per diem and over guarantee which can range from $0-$800. That's after taxes and insurance for me and my wife, no kids. So if you worked for Colgan with a wife and no kids and got based in the NE where you never get per diem, you could count on between $15,000-17,000 take-home in the Saab.

| Old Skool | My last "full" paycheck (long story) was $820.82. That's a two week paycheck for 43 hours (that's over garuantee) including per diem. Per diem was something like $200+/-. In training my take home pay was more like $500 every two weeks and I was in training for three months. So ... Three months of training = $3,000~ Nine months of a line guarantee (held a line from my first month off IOE) = $14,778~ Grand total for take home pay is going to be right around = $17,778~ That's after taxes, benefits (I pay nearly $80 per pay check for benefits alone) and uniform deduction.

| Senior Member | my first year of pay i grossed just under $20k, which does not include per diem. That was basically just under 2 months of training which was per-diem only no hourly pay, 6 months of reserve (guarantee), 4 months of relief/hardline (over guarantee) and profit sharing. takehome pay for the reserve months was around 12-1400/month (inlcudes per-diem) and a little higher when i was holding a line. |

| Before taxes, I've taken in $5100 in the 2.5 months off of IOE, which would work out to a little over $2000 a month. Figure in taxes and paying off this stinkin leather jacket, I've netted $4300, or $1700/month. At this rate I'll make about 20,500 for the year. This has been flying 60hrs a month, crediting about 90, so I haven't really been flying my butt off. I'm holding a hard line now, so I won't be able to work the reserve system like I did, but I still am going to be crediting at least 90hrs a month. |

| I've only been flying at an airline for about 5 months and this is how it's been averaging out. We get paid twice a month. The first payment is one half of my guarantee is which is 37.5 X 23= $862. Then they throw in some other money owed, GUAR PROT and RIG PAY which is an additional $170 a pay period. After taxes and uniform deductions it's about $750 a month on the average. Then the second payment is what I mentioned above, per diem, and any hours that I go over my guarantee. So far it has been averaging about $1600 per second paycheck. This is not the norm. My airline is in need of pilots so they use the reserves to the fullest. The past 3 months I have been averaging about 95 hours per month. Hopes this helps. |

| Senior Member | I guess the real question is, "How much will you make, and how much MORE can your wife make?" At least that's my question (for my wife).....lol

Also, is there any credit ($$) if you DON'T take the medical plan with an airline? Wife will be eligable for medical in a few months even at PT. | |

| Senior Member | Yeah, from what I understand you usually have to pay extra for insurance (at the interview they told me between 70 and 230 a month). So you don't have to buy it, but you're not going to be making anymore without it.

| My 1st year W2 was just over $18K. Yahoo. I know you don't want to count per diem, but on 1st year pay I found that I was fairly conservative in my use of it. (meaning I did not "eat" all of it on the overnights.) Per diem gave me another tax free $3 or 3 1/2 grand or so. I don't remember exactly. |

| I brought home $1700 per month at Piedmont. And that was without withholding for the medical insurance (my wife's insurance was better, so I got a $30 per check credit for not using the insurance) That did include withholding for uniforms, and of course all the usual taxes. Speaking of uniforms...Piedmont uses Cintas uniforms and the company absolutely blows chunks. Back in August of 2005 I ordered 2 sets of FO sliders and I never got them, they said they were on "back order". I left Piedmont in May 2006. TODAY I get 2 sets of sliders from Cintas via DHL. Morons...friggin morons. ![]() |

| I'm taking home about $2300/month on first year pay at Piedmont after taxes. That does include per diem which averages about $300/month. I am crediting about 100 hours of pay per month, so it would be significantly less if I was at guarantee. |
