I got my private at 36ish, and most of the others on target +/- 5 hours, but then again I went to an academy where I flew every day so I'm sure that had tons to do with it. Someone flying 3 times a month probably wont have as good a chance at doing it in the minimum, but I could be wrong.

started private in february, got private in october - 44hours no previous experience. First ten hours of training was just trying not to throw up. Two years later got my Instrument in 30 hours - 10 sim, 20 plane. |

Mins can be realistic. Took my private ride with 40.7 logged, commercial at 252.

| Old Skool | The only real impediment to testing at or near minimums is yourself. If you put the effort in, and make sure that you are checking off a requirement with every flight then you will probably be ready to test at or near mins. I have seen a lot of guys go dick around and accomplish nothing then wonder why it took them 15 hours past minimums to get signed off for their ride.

I did my private in 43 hrs. I was prepared to take it at 40 but had to reschedule 4 times due to weather.

Commercial at 186 TT (141 required 190 hours of training... but FTD time could count for some). Was supposed to take PPL at 45, but weather delays caused that to creep up a little to stay sharp.
