Default Define QOL

Just heard about a guy at AA that lives in DFW and can't even hold md80 reserve in DFW. He commutes to STL to sit reserve. Been doing the same thing for >7 years. Zero advancement. Remember, they're parking planes to counteract attrition.

Ouch........ He does have a job though (for now).

You guys at regionals don't have it so bad now do ya?

Apples and oranges.........I get your point but you can't really compare the two. Yes zero advancement sucks but there is a HUGE difference between reserve at AA and reserve at a regional (or even holding a line at a regional for that matter).

If it's so terrible, why doesn't he move to STL? Odds are he can commute without too much trouble (which can be a huge hassle with regional schedules), can actually AFFORD a decent crashpad and doesn't have to worry about the cheapest regional sending him out on the streets when the mainline partner decides to go with the cheapest bid.

That doesn't surprise me, being that there was very little movement at AA since 2001. Someone has to have been manning the bottom for all this time. I doubt they had zero chances to advance before 2001, though. Other than that, this is old news considering the recent history. Things are slowly starting to happen over there. People are gonna get anxious, so the complaining will commence if the grocery line doesn't move fast enough.

To answer the original poster's question...

"Ask any 10 people how they define quality of life and they'll probably provide 10 different answers. The most important thing to bear in mind about quality of life is that it's relative."
