| Agent Smith | I'm just a regular guy who leads a multi-billion dollar airline, wrestled massive concessions from the unions and take a multi-million dollar bonus.

| Old Skool | But ... but ... BUT!! he's a pyrat (pilot) and his wife is a pyrat and they fly an Apache (235 by the looks of it or a very early Aztec) so he MUST be "one of the guys." When, exactly, did the world get more f-ed up than Alice in Wonderland!?

| Hey Doug, Did you catch the part where he talked about who gets wiped out in a bankruptcy filing? He did not mention the EMPLOYEES, not once. Employees don't lose in a bankruptcy. Who needs a pension, right? He also defended his and his felow execs bonuses by saying "Our executives have equity-based compensation like most major companies". He lost all my respect with those two comments. When he has to sell his Apache due to his poor performance on the job and financial troubles at AA, I might talk to him. It's too bad, he had such a chance to win back the employees in that piece. Imagine if he tied ALL executive bonuses to PROFIT, i.e. profit sharing. What a concept, except he might have to actually EARN it. And that's not easy. |

| Agent Smith | Wall Street and the general public love the 'fluff pieces'. Offer an average, out of the airport employee, offer to electronically obscure his/her face and mask the voice and you'll probably have the "real" story. I know if anyone asked me publically in front of a camera about Southernjets Innanashnul, I'd smile and walk away because it wouldn't be pretty and I'd be calling up TruckMasters.

| It's too bad they didn't shadow a reserve Eagle crew on a long day, overhearing in the process a discussion of pay and work rules...I think it would have been pretty eye-opening for a lot of people. I know AMR would never give access in that case, but it would have been pretty nice. At least they could have shown SOC trying to dispatch an ERJ for a 3hr flight with an inop lav. |

| Old Skool | I think this is meant to give the uninitiated an "insiders" view of an airline and more specifically, American. If it was on the Cool Enough for Every Pilot Network, I'd be changing the channel, too!

| Agent Smith | Reminds me a few years ago when the local news did a fluff piece on Mesa's Jonathan Ornstein: "Arizona's hometown airline has a CEO just like Herb Kelleher! Jonathan rides a Harley! Tune in tonight!" Alas, America loves fluff. Luckily I wasn't cognizant of Lorenzo when he was in the news.

Did anyone actually watch the part where they talk about USPS cargo and how like 80% of USPS cargo and other cargo is not checked for anything. AA just assumes it is safe because it comes from 'safe' businesses. I think that is stupid. Passengers have to go through screening after screening. But the heaviest cargo could be carrying explosives... quite interesting. ![]() | |
