| Nah, stopped at FS9. Even then I haven't had the game installed in more than 6 months. |

| Old Skool | I'm a flight sim addict, but the new release didn't justify the price they are asking combined with the resources it uses on my computer. I lost my flight sim discs in the move and I'm getting 2004 again.

| The only SIM I've been playing lately is Silent Hunter III... a really cool sub sim, but Flight Sim X looks really good so I'll probably pick it up. |

| I think what I'll end up doing is just download it from Torrents for free, test it out, then if it actually runs on my PC laptop I will "purchase" it (Microsoft owes me a LOT of money for all the time spent fixing their software issues).

| Senior Member | I tried it. Its more of the same. Eye candy without realism. I am uninstalling it. It looks good though.

| I downloaded the demo and I think I am going to be stopping with FS9. I have found myself having less of an urge to fly it since I have started in the real world. |

| Old Skool | I don't think I've touched MSFS since I finished my IR. Then again, this one has a CRJ on it as a default a/c. I can come home and, well, go back to work.....

| Senior Member | I think the new virtual cockpit, with the whole head-motion-camera thing, is pretty sweet. In that mode, it feels quite a bit more like "flying." In general, landings and VFR flying feel more realistic, with better visual/spatial references, and improved sense of distance and depth. So yeah, it's cool, but you need a friggin' beast of a computer to get playable frames on decent-looking settings. So it's back to FS9 for another three years. |

| Old Skool | If you have FS9 dont waste the money, at least not yet, there are no add ons (like additional aircraft) available yet. The "Improvements" are in the graphical, "lookie how "real" those clouds look" type of stuff. The "flying" is just as close as it has ever gotten to the real thing with any previous sim, not close enough. I have found the physics of real flight are not there (ie, throttle back and pitch up gets a dramatic increase in airspeed somehow). That being said, it has been beneficial to me as far as being able to practice instrument procedures sitting at home. My instructor has been very happy when I show up to the lesson already having a pretty good idea of how to carry out the procedures for the day, since I practice them on the sim before the lesson. If you have no previous sim and have a computer up to the monolithic task (2 DVD's, 15 Gigabytes of HD space, graphic card from NASA) then it is a good place to start, but for the price? I saw FS2004 at walmart for $29.99 and for "flying" it is just as good. |

| Junior Member | Damn this game requires some sick hardware! There are some cool stuff there...too bad it locks up my system and crashes it 100% of the time so far.

The same reason I don't watch the show "Airline"... At least you can now run into simmers who think they know the airplane better than you! :-) I won't be buying the new MFS because although my hardware is sick, it's in a Microsoft kinda way... | |

| Old Skool | I watched it for a season or two just to see if there was anyone I knew on there. Then it got to be too much. ![]() Quote:

| I used to be a simmer before I started flying real planes, and some of the guys in those forums and sim communities really have it in there head that they could go out there and take an F-16 or a 737 and fly it into combat/on an approach to mins if they had the chance to do so ![]() |
