| From what I can tell on the features, it seems like FSX is now doing what X-plane has been doing for a few versions now.... 3-D cockpit is a good thing. I had to change the way I fly in the sim - using 3D cockpit I control the camera with my right hand on the mouse, and fly the stick with my left. Looking outside the cockpit with the mouse and keeping track of my scan and outside references has totally changed the way I fly in the sim. It's....weird. But cool. On the flip side, it is DAMN HARD to turn dials and knobs with the mouse while in flight on the 3D mode. I usually switch it back to 2D to make adjustments and then go back to 3D once I set the GPS/OBS etc... |

Heh...too true... I like the fact that in X-plane if I do something dumb like extend flaps when going too fast they fall off, landing gear will break if I land too hard, pulling too many g's will redout, overloading the wings will break them, etc...oh..yes...my personal fave right now...landing the 172SP on the nosewheel will make a nice crunching sound followed by a really interesting taxi/braking session. What's REALLY fun in X-plane (besides trying to fly helos...gawd) is setting the failure(s) to highest settings, and then trying to fly as various instruments and components are crapping out on you at an alarming rate... | |

Imagine if the control imputs were the same in a real Cessna as they are on FS.

| I got the new FSX downloaded on my dads computer. I like how it has the wingview on the jets as compared to the older simulators which don't have it. Only problem is it uses up alot of harddrive and the graphics arent that good , and it takes forever to load ( Fact: this is a pretty new computer). Do I jsut need a memory card to boost the graphics and make it load faster or is it jsut going to do that no matter what? Other than that it rocks and the realism is great even without the card. Any info is good.

| I've noticed from some of my friends here that they have tried some tweaks for the game and that they improved the performance somewhat, not a whole lot at all. But I think I am still going to hold out on it. |

| I played the demo, and to me it doesnt look much better than the last version plus I would rather spend my little money on some of the combat sims out there. MSFS is only good for practicing oddball instrument procedures and such. |

| Senior Member | does anyone actually talk on the game? i saw that one could talk to other pilots and stuff. how is the 'ATC' in the game? is it realistic enough that one would ought to get clearance and all that? do they give you the option? I ask this because Mic. FS and X-plane are not the best examples of real world 'pilot talk.' I played a FS in like 99 that had the best realistic options of ATC and FSS ever... wish gamers put more emphasis on that also. |

| Old Skool | THe ATC talks really slow and steadily, annunciating every letter of a callsign and clearence. As anyone who has talked to ATC before knows, this is not at all the way real life is. "Did not copy last, please repeat" How many times have you said that over the radio? |
